YOUTH FAILS TO SECURE SUPPORT AFTER PRODUCING ELECTRICITY

By Michael Nyumbu

A Mazabuka based youth who developed a project of producing electricity from human fecal matter has lamented lack of support for innovation in the country.

Mackford Moono tells Byta FM News that it will continue proving difficult for the country to progress in technology and innovation because there is no structured government support.

Moono explains that from the time he began developing his project whilst in grade 5, he has over the years been soliciting for financial support to expand his idea to no avail.

He alleges that those who reach out to him exhibit suspicious behavior seemingly wanting to hijack his ideas.

Moono has since called on government to step in and assist those with innovations to establish and market them for the benefit of the country.

During a recent engagement with World Bank Vice President, Victoria Kwakwa, Monday, Minister of Science and Technology, Felix Mutati disclosed that government will by the end of July, 2022 set aside funds for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.-
