A ZAMBIA ARMY OFFICER UNDER COMMANDO UNIT OF NDOLA HAS BEEN ARRESTED FORALLEGEDLY RAPING HIS 25 YEAR OLD COUSIN
A Zambia Army officer under Commando Unit of Ndola has been arrested for allegedly raping his 25-year-old cousin.
Major Mwamba Chilufya 32, who is also a medical doctor is alleged to have raped the victim believed to be his cousin while at his home.
It is alleged that the two were in each other’s company drinking alcohol when the incident happened.
The incident happened last year at Dr Chilufya’s home where he allegedly took advantage of the victim who did not consent to the act.
Acting Copperbelt Commanding Officer, Tresphord Kasale confirmed the arrest of Dr Chilufya in an interview.
Mr Kasale said the incident was reported to police last year.
He said Dr Chilufya has since been charged with rape.
“The docket of the case has been called from Masala Police station to Ndola district police where investigations have continued,” he said.
Mr Kasale said Dr Chilufya has since been released on police bond.
He said the matter is expected to be in court on Friday this week.
