ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE TAKES FIRM STANCE ON UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT BY SOME POLICE OFFICERS.
December 6.2024-The Inspector General of Police Mr. Graphel Musamba has noted with concern the growing number of complaints regarding unprofessional conduct by some police officers.
These incidents undermine public trust and the effective enforcement of laws in our country.
We wish to assure the public that, where investigations establish unprofessional conduct by our officers, appropriate disciplinary or criminal proceedings will be instituted against the erring officers. Upholding professionalism and integrity remains a cornerstone of the Zambia Police Service.
However, this commitment should not be misconstrued as a license for members of the public to flout laws with impunity. The law applies equally, and any member of the public found in violation will face the necessary legal consequences.
In line with this commitment, the Inspector general of Police has today taken stern and decisive administrative action against three traffic officers of Mumbwa in Central Province for unprofessional conduct. The trio has today been reverted from traffic section to general police duties. Such measures are part of an ongoing effort to ensure accountability and fairness within the Service.
We reiterate our dedication to law enforcement as well as promoting road safety and fostering mutual respect between law enforcement officers and the public. Let us work together to promote peace and create safer roads for everyone.

ZP, Bwana IG. I am a regular user of Great North Road and my observation is your officers have no regards for motorist but to get money from motorist. This check point is chisamba turn off Road block. They have basically turned that supposedly security check point into a fitness test center. The vehicles can stretch half a kilometer without care but watch how they walk around a car to make sure they spot a defect, am just wait to see them start laying down to check if there is any mad stuck underneath the car to give you a charge of failure to wash under carriage.
This institution is gone. Just walk into some police stations at the front desk and you’ll be shocked with just the appearance of some of these so called officers. Total drunkards and smelling of alcohol. No sober looks at all. One wonders whether these stations have superiors who knows what’s happening in their respective stations. My heart bleeds.
Get rid of chisamba road block. It serves no purpose than to create long traffic queues on either side. Also this is the problem with our police service. They merely transfer erring officers to other stations or departments than firing them. The same three officers whom you have just transferred from traffic to general duties will be back in traffic after a short hiatus.
