ZESCO ASSURES CONTINUED POWER SUPPLY TO MARKETS FROM DIESEL GENERATORS
ZESCO has assured marketeers and the public that it will continue to supply additional power to markets from diesel generators.
ZESCO Communications Strategy Manager, Muntanga Sibalwa, said that the move is aimed at addressing concerns regarding the transition to solar power, particularly in areas where ZESCO installed diesel-powered generators to minimize the power supply gap.
“The gensets will be utilised during times when the electrical system is under strain, particularly during peak demand periods and maintenance of the system,
Ms Sibalwa said that the presence of these diesel generators as a backup power source will remain vital for ensuring the resilience and stability of the power supply infrastructure.
“The installed generators have been optimized to operate for 8 hours during peak business hours, effectively providing support to the local economy enabling business continuity,” ms Sibalwa added.
She further noted that ZESCO’s commitment to improving reliability in power supply not only benefits marketeers but also enhances access to essential services for communities.
Ms Sibalwa said that the diesel generators are serving as an invaluable energy solution as the ZESCO actively pursues sustainable solutions to attain a hybrid energy model in the long term.
