ZESCO WORKER ELECTROCUTED WHILE REPAIRING IBEX HILL SUB-STATION

January 24,2023- A Zesco employee was electrocuted while on duty at Chibelo substation in Lusaka.

The deceased who has been identified as Fackson Mbewe was pronounced dead upon arrival at the University Teaching Hospitals in Lusaka.

The incident occurred on January 23, 2023 around 21:30 hours.

Police investigations indicate that the deceased was trying to remove tree branches which fell on electrical cables when the incident occurred.

The body is in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba has noted with concern the increase in Gender Based Violence cases in Mufumbwe District of North-Western Province.

Mr. Kajoba has since called upon Police officers in Mufumbwe to intensify sensitization programmes in the District.

He said community leaders should be involved and take lead in sensitization programmes in order to stop the scourge.

The Inspector General of Police said this today, January 24, 2023 when he addressed Police officers in Mufumbwe District.

And Mr. Kajoba has commended Police officers for arresting the hired killers commonly known as Karavinas in Mufumbwe District.

He described the arrest as a huge success on the Police as members of the communities in Mufumbwe are now freely going about their business without fear of being attacked.

Police arrested the perpetrators in 2021 and since then cases involving karavinas are unheard of in Mufumbwe District.

He urged Police officers to always be on the lookout and make sure that law and order is maintained in the District.
