Zimbabwe Donates 10 Tonnes of Food Aid to Drought-Hit Bobirwa District in Botswana
GABORONE — Zimbabwe has donated 10 tonnes of food supplies to assist communities in Botswana’s drought-prone Bobirwa District, the ruling Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) announced on Friday.
The assistance was delivered to Mophato Volunteers in Bobirwa through ZimAid, Zimbabwe’s foreign assistance programme, according to an official statement from the UDC.
The initiative is managed under Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Civil Protection Unit and private-sector partners.
The UDC described the donation as a demonstration of cooperation and solidarity between the two neighbouring countries.
Images shared by the party showed trucks loaded with sacks of food aid, branded with ZimAid banners featuring the Zimbabwean flag and the slogan “Sharing is Caring.”
The Bobirwa District, located in eastern Botswana near the border with Zimbabwe, has faced persistent drought challenges affecting local communities and agriculture.
