FAMILY SHOULD RESCUE LUNGU FROM PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT – WELL-WISHER

EDGAR Lungu’s family must step in and rescue the former president from political vultures who are subjecting him to public embarrassment and humiliation, a well wishers has advised.

Dillon Mayangwa, a Lusaka-based political and social observer feels the former president is being held hostage by people that believe they can benefit from his ‘kasaka ka ndalama’ and diminishing political influence.

Mayangwa’s comments come in the wake of a viral social media video clip showing Lungu locked outside Lusaka Central Police Station and calling a police officer in a fashion many feel is unbefitting of his status as a former Head of State.

In the video, Lungu is heard loudly telling off someone who tried to restrain him from exhibiting Intercity Bus Terminus conduct in public not to stop him.

Joining in the widespread shock and concern for the former president, Mayangwa says it is time Lungu’s wife and children stepped and saved him from embarrassment.

Mayangwa noted that desperate parastatical politicians who think they can benefit from Lungu were subjecting him to public embarrassment.

He feels the former president should concentrate on his health and cementing his role as a father of the nation.

Mayangwa said it was embarrassing to see the former head of State calling those that saluted with respect  “ati boss, boss.”

He advised Lungu to rescind his political decision and get back to normalcy title of a father of the nation.

“Our former president is now embarrassing himself in public because he is being ill-advised. In a quest to protect what many believe to be illegally-acquired wealth, he is making more mistakes. Instead of making peace with his brother [Hakainde Hichilema], he is busy fighting with him left, right, centre. How can the former head of State start calling those who saluted him iwe boss,” Mayangwa observed.

“Everyone who means well for Lungu can advise him correctly. This is the right time for him to be with his family, his wife and children to reflect. He needs be sat down and being told that you had your time and that take up the role as a father of the nation, not a father of embarrassment,” said Mayangwa.

“In everything there is a retirement, there is no job without a retirement. His retirement is now but he still wants to work because some selfish individuals are advising him to do so. People around him that are pushing him to do politics are looking more healthy than him because they are enjoying his money.”

Man is not pompous. He well understands and respects people regardless.

Ignorance is when one becomes a leader and starts to think he is everything and starts to do anything that comes to his mind and he does not know that angels are not human beings but terrestrial beings.
Now welcome to Zambia where a humble Economist has opened up the wealth of our nation and our Lawyers have failed to interpret the law which themselves wrote in the name of Sangwi.

Point of correction. The former President, Mr. Lungu cannot and will never be “Father of the Nation”. This title belongs exclusively to the first republican President, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, who oversaw the birth of an independent Zambia. His successors are all mere former presidents.

Maybe Mr. Lungu can aspire for “Statesman” but going by his current conduct, even this title will prove elusive as his behaviour is more of that of a thug than of a Statesman.

No one is forcing Mr. Lungu to do the things he is doing and saying. What we are seeing is the real Mr. Lungu, uncensored. Why do you think he only addressed ONE press conference during the duration of his seven year misrule? His handlers could not trust him to face a probing press.

As for his family advising him, don’t forget that they are all like minded. That is why there was no one to restrain others when they went on a looting binge. As a result, the whole family, except for Mr. Lungu (on account of his immunity), are appearing before the courts to explain how they accumulated such immense wealth within the short time Mr. Lungu was President. They all are adherents of the “uubomba mwibala alya mwibala” philosophy.

Mr. Lungu’s coming back to politics is one way he can redistribute his ill gotten wealth.
