Name of fan who paid $38K, more than 3 times the expected price for Bronny James’ first Summer League jersey, revealed

Bronny James’ NBA merchandise is already making waves, with his first Summer League jersey selling for over $38,000. The purple and gold jersey from the July 12 game between the Lakers and Houston Rockets in Las Vegas was auctioned by Sotheby’s in mid-September.

It now belongs to the “Lakers Shrine,” one of the most impressive private collections of Lakers memorabilia in the world, according to TMZ.

Bronny played 27 minutes and scored 8 points in his first NBA action during the Summer League game against the Houston Rockets.

The game marked his debut after being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers late in the second round of this summer’s NBA Draft.

The lucky buyer of Bronny’s first Summer League jersey is David Kohler, founder and president of SCP Auctions.

Kohler, an avid collector, boasts an impressive array of Lakers memorabilia, featuring items from legends like Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, LeBron James, and nearly every significant player in Lakers history.

Kohler bought Bronny’s jersey due to its historical significance, with LeBron and Bronny becoming the first father-son teammates in NBA history.

On Sunday, during the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, LeBron and Bronny became the first father/son duo to play together on an NBA team.

20-year-old Bronny played for four minutes alongside his 39-year-old superstar father.

Bronny said playing with his father felt like a “normal game with my teammate.”

“Just trying to live in the moment and do my job and find my role,” he said.

The Lakers open the regular season on October 22 against the Timberwolves.
