US OFFICIALS HYPE IRAN TALKS AS POSITIVE WHILE TEHRAN CALLS IT SURRENDER
Washington is pushing an optimistic line on backchannel talks with Iran, but Tehran is singing a very different tune.
A senior US official told Fox News’ Bill Hemmer this morning that America remains in direct contact with the regime. “We are absolutely in touch with them,” the official said. “The talks have been positive. If we get lucky, we will have something by the end of the day.”
That rosy assessment comes as the US presses for a ceasefire to reopen the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Contrast that with the Iranian side. A senior source in Tehran, speaking to Reuters via Pakistan as intermediary, made clear there’s zero flexibility from their end. They insist there are no real negotiations happening, just American pressure demanding surrender. “Flexibility will be shown when we see flexibility from the US side,” the source said bluntly. Pakistan continues relaying messages, but Iran sees no shift in Washington’s hardline tone.
This mixed messaging highlights the deep distrust and wide gaps still separating the two sides. While the administration floats hopes of a quick breakthrough, Iran’s regime shows no sign of backing down or reopening the critical waterway on American terms.
With a US deadline looming and the region on edge, don’t count on any deal materializing today. Tehran has made it clear: they won’t fold under pressure.
