🇺🇸🇮🇷 TOP U.S. IRAN WAR COMMANDER PRAISES USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN CREW: “A PERFORMANCE FOR THE AGES”

U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper has publicly praised the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln, describing its prolonged deployment during the Iran conflict as one of the most operationally intense and consequential missions of the modern era.

Cooper, the four-star admiral overseeing U.S. military operations in the region, visited the aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea as the Lincoln approached the end of a deployment lasting more than 260 days at sea, including more than 150 days in a combat zone.

Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Cooper acknowledged the extraordinary demands placed on the sailors aboard the carrier.

«“I also saw the reality of more than 260 days at sea,” Cooper wrote, describing conversations with sailors in parts of the ship that most visitors never see.»

The admiral also addressed earlier reports about difficult living conditions aboard the carrier, including complaints involving food and other quality-of-life issues. According to Cooper, those problems had already been addressed by the ship’s leadership.

But the central focus of Cooper’s assessment was the carrier strike group’s combat performance.

⚓ Intense Naval Combat

According to Cooper, destroyers assigned to the Lincoln strike group participated in some of the most intense naval combat experienced by the U.S. Navy since World War II.

The carrier’s air wing also conducted hundreds of strikes against Iranian Revolutio ccnary Guard Corps targets, while the strike group carried out major maritime operations during the conflict.

Cooper credited the sailors with maintaining an exceptionally high operational tempo despite the prolonged deployment and sustained combat demands.

“The crew is tired, but they continue to fire on all cylinders,” Cooper wrote

He said the deployment would be remembered as “one of the most operationally intense and consequential of the modern era.”

🇺🇸 A Grueling Deployment

The USS Abraham Lincoln has remained at sea for more than eight months, placing extraordinary demands on its sailors while operating thousands of miles from the United States.

For the crew, the deployment has involved extended periods away from families, sustained combat operations, long working hours and continuous readiness requirements.

Cooper’s visit was therefore significant not only as an assessment of combat performance, but also as an acknowledgment of the human cost of maintaining such a prolonged deployment.

The admiral’s comments effectively placed the highest-ranking U.S. military leadership in the region behind the sailors’ performance, emphasizing that the carrier’s crew continued operating at a high tempo despite exhaustion.

⚠️ A Historic Assessment

Cooper’s assessment represents a powerful endorsement from the commander responsible for U.S. military operations across the Middle East.

Rather than simply issuing a standard commendation, the CENTCOM commander personally highlighted both the extraordinary operational demands and the sustained performance of the sailors aboard the Lincoln strike group.

“History will record this deployment as one of the most operationally intense and consequential of the modern era,” Cooper said

The USS Abraham Lincoln deployment now stands as a major example of the demands placed on U.S. naval forces during a sustained high-intensity conflict, with its sailors operating continuously at sea while conducting combat missions and maintaining the carrier strike group’s ability to respond across the region.
