A MINIMUM OF 10 YEARS INPRISONMENT WITH HARD LABOUR AWAITS CHITOTELA AS HE IS COMMITTED TO THE HIGH COURT FOR SENTENCING FOR ARSON.

July 22nd 2024

KAWAMBWA – The Kawambwa Magistrate Court this morning committed PF Pambashe member of Parliament Ronald Chitotela to the High Court for sentencing after finding him guilty of the offence of Arson.

The Magistrate Court could not sentence Mr Chitotela as the charge of Arson attracts a minimum of 10 years imprisonment which falls above the threshold of a Magistrate and has to be referred to the High Court.

The Court has further sentenced Kawambwa Member of Parliament Nickson Chilangwa to five years imprisonment with hard labour after finding him guilty of malicious damage to property.

The two lawmakers are said to have while in the company of other people burnt to ashes a Mahindra vehicle belonging to the UPND Luapula youth committee during the 2021 General elections.

Others found guilty are Kalumba Chifumbe and Davy Kaniki who have both been sentenced to 5yrs while Ronald Chitotela, Kunda Chitotela and Chabu Chitotela have been committed to the High Court for sentencing.

  1. This is the way to go. Let them point at ECL who allowed lawlessness during his tenure of office.
Tampeni amapulani yakwingishamo indalama muli ba lawyers wenu. Lawyers are happy now they have found a base of harmmering what was hidden.
Next we want to hear is Kampyongo with the case of wanting to burn the helicopter – where ba mayo ba Nalumango, Maureen Mwanawasa, Felix Mutati and Miles Sampa were almost killed.
videos are clear and people who were sent to want to burn the aircraft are there and still alive.

  2. Chitotela and Nickson hired a private jet to come for the court case. What arrogance to show off stolen money. Cage these thugs

    • Lusaka-to- Kawmbwa is a long drive given that they were both in Parliament on Friday. If they had to make it on time and fresh enough to attend court on Monday, they needed to travel to Luapula province or rather Mansa by air and then by road to Kawambwa since there’s no airport there.

    • Every dog has its day…as they saying goes. HH has been very clear. You are on your own. From day one ge has told those indulging inbcriminality, the law is the law. Ulu weka.
So we wonder why you are jumping up and down? Unlike ECL those criminals are not being embrozoned by HH but the law will follow them

  3. It is better to be an evangelist than a politician. Preaching the gospel is the most important thing in life. Politics is of the devil.
    Jesus Christ is coming again

  4. A good lesson to all those who perpetuate political violence and take the law into their own hands. It is also a warning to young who are hired to cause violence and attack innocent people that the arm of the law will soon visit them. The behaviour of the PF when they were in power was something else as the PF thrived on intimidation, hooliganism, thuggery and barbaric tendencies. The rule of law completely broke down during the PF. Today we are witnessing the fading away of the relevance wearing of political regalia and it is just a mere political identity of affiliation. During the PF wearing PF regalia was immunity and passport to do anything. Violence and public disorder was the game of the day under the leadership of Edgar Chagwa Lungu and political freedoms to exercise one’s political association with the opposition political parties was restricted and punishable. Criminals and thugs took advantage of the weakness in the leadership of the PF and identified themselves them with the PF to seek protection and to disguise their criminality.

I admire the bravery of president Hakainde Hichilema to strongly and publicly speak against political violence and to restore public order. Thank you for the good leadership and may the good Lord Jesus Christ bless you sir and your family.
