1.What was the principle behind cutting off meal allowance aka BC??by the then Education Minister HON NKANDU LUO.
Ans.The PF government has built more schools and colleges in the past years which means more people graduating from high school to tertiary education. Which in turn means more people needing government bursary. Now there are four things that the government pays for students on a full government bursary.
i. Tuition fees
ii. Project allowance
iii. Book allowance
iv. Meal allowance
So in government’s wisdom they thought of what to cut off from the four so that money realised be used to put more students on bursary including those in public colleges.
Remember bursaries were just for UNZA and CBU.
Because of that deliberate decision we have more students in UNI and Colleges accessing government bursary.
Now you tell me what you are going to tell the other hundreds of students who will be cut off from government bursary after you reinstate the meal allowance aka BC for a select few.
