ARCHBISHOP BANDA SURRENDERED VEHICLE AFTER HE WAS TOLD IT WAS DIRTY – FR CHAMA

ARCHBISHOP Ignatius Chama of the Archdiocese of Kasama has charged that the “persecution” of Archbishop Alick Banda by government is like food to those people who do not want to be told that things are not okay.

And Archbishop Chama says Archbishop Banda had returned the said Hilux vehicle to government after it was believed that it was a proceed of crime.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Chama has called on government to pay the “poor farmers” who supplied maize to FRA.

Speaking during his weekly Wednesday radio programme of Ishiwi Lyakwa Kachema on Lutanda Radio Station, Archbishop Chama said they foresaw the alleged “persecution” of Archbishop Banda because he was not in good terms with President Hakainde Hichilema.

“We entered the new year with a notice that shocked the Catholic Church where the Archbishop of Lusaka Alick Banda was summoned by DEC in relation to the Hilux that he was gifted, a car that was returned to government because it was believed to be a proceed of crime. All of us were worried and the truth is we saw that as persecution of the Archbishop by government, especially because the Archbishop and the President don’t get along, the nation knows this. And in their disagreement, the one who has the power to persecute the other is the President because, he can just direct his people to say do this to that one and they will do it. Just like what happened on 5th January,” he said.

Archbishop Chama said he hopes that the disagreement between President Hichilema and Archbishop Banda did not result in a worrisome situation.

“Ichabulanda chakutila uyu umuchushisha wa buteko uwakuchusha shikofu uli kwati ichakulya cha bantu abashifwya umo abebe ukweba ati ifintu tafili bwino. Ichakuti limbi kuti chafika nakukonaula ubumi bwakwa shikofu. Ichofye kuli bena shikofu alisanguka ushifwaikwa muchalo abene baipangila. Kwena tefyo tuli nokwikala muchalo chesu. Ubumi bwa muntu onse bwalichindama. Nangufye bumi wakutulanga ifilubo fyesu nabo bwine bwali chindama pantu bumi bwa muntu ubwachitwa muchata chakwa Lesa. Naonse uwalamona ukuti ubumi bwa muntu munankwe tabwachindama alafyawa nokubupwisha ninshi afuma mubotwingapendela pabantu abachindami asanguka Caino ushamwene ubuchindami bwa bumi bwamwaiche wakwe aleni amwipaya nokumwipaya. Lisubilo lyandi ilya chalo ilyakuti mukukana umfwana kwaba kateka besu na shikofu mukalamba wamu Lusaka tamwakafume ifyansakamika yabantu ngefyo chali pa 5 January ( What is worrying is that the persecution of the Archbishop, by government, is like food to those people who do not want to be told that things are not okay. Food that can destroy the life of the archbishop, because to them it’s like the Archbishop has become someone they don’t want to continue living in the country they have created for themselves. That’s not how we are supposed to live, everyone’s life is sacred, even if it’s for someone who shows us our wrongdoing, that life is sacred because it is life of someone who was created in the image of God. And anyone who wants thinks that another person’s life is not sacred and wants to end it then he’s not among those people who can be counted as righteous. He becomes Cain who did not see the sacredness of his young brother’s life Abel and killed him. It is my hope that the disagreement between the President and the Archbishop of Lusaka does not result in a worrisome situation like on 5 January),” Archbishop Chama said.

“I remember when one Minister came to see me about this issue, he said ‘these two don’t get along’, he said ‘we cannot allow the disagreement between the two result in the suffering of others in Lusaka’. He saw that it was only through dialogue that peace could be restored. Because where two elephants are fighting, it’s the grass that suffers”.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Chama called on government to pay farmers who had sold their maize to FRA as they had suffered enough.

“Let me end by appealing to you government please pay the poor of farmers for the Maize they supplied to FRA. I’m begging the government give the poor farmers their money, they have suffered enough. The rainy season is even midway, the poor farmers are yet to buy maize seeds to plant. I already spoke about the suffering of the poor farmers I’ll end here, he who has ears to hear the cries of the poor let him hear,” said Archbishop Chama.

  1. Hakainde’s Propagandists continue lying and spreading fake Propaganda…An impression is being created as if the Archbishop is in possession of the Motor Vehicle.
Immediately the Archbishop Dr Alick Banda learnt about the issues surrounding the ZRA vehicle, he willingly surrendered it back to government, through Counsel John Sangwa..And that was four years ago.
    THERE WAS NO COURT ORDER.
ArchBishop Chama is telling the Truth…
But ofcourse Hakainde and his minions do not want the Truth..
They live in a parallel Universe where Lies are the norm…
And ZRA receipts, gate passes, cheque payments of K50,000.00 are all forgeries.

    • And he never met the person who gifted him the vehicle…
Why didn’t he ask to meet the person who gifted him the ‘Chipaso’ as it was not a cheap gift as some sectors are now trying to downplay it…
He knew what was happening and everyone thought that they had covered their tracks…
Lies catch up and he is in a web as an Accomplice…
Anyway, you are entitled to your own opinion and I respect it…

  2. Ok let’s take it this way. If you, iwe twanikane, are found with a married woman’s clothes including underwear in your bedroom. Then the husband summons you to find out how those things found themselves in your bed and you remain quite. What does that mean? Then your close friend start saying there is no issue here because the clothes and underwear were returned to the husband. Now imagine these are priests pulling such moves.

  3. He new the vehicle was tainted all the time, just look at the process how he acquired it. Go tell the court he surrendered , stop the public court option that is politics

  4. Let Archbishop Alick Banda speak for himself. He is of age. He knows his circumstances better than you ba Archbishop Chama.

He was given the chance to give his side of the story but he chose to remain silent.

    • I cannot agree more with you. We are told Archbishop Alick Banda opted to remain silent at the DEC. At law, we know what that means. So, Archbishop Chama should just keep quiet. This is a criminal matter and Archbishop Alick Banda was warned and cautioned: meaning that, the next stage, he could be arrested.

  5. We are in the new year, and instead of preaching messages of encouragement, the priest is preaching defiance toward the government. What does the Bible teach about persecution if you believe that uyo Banda is innocent?
What has the non-payment of farmers who sold maize after the initial procurement by the FRA got to do with the topic under discussion? It is not all farmers who have not been paid. Be truthful for once, ba faza.
During the pf era, all farmers, retirees, and students were not being paid on time. We never heard your voice because you supported the corrupt regime. Shame on you

  6. That Vehicle was not surrendered voluntarily,it was taken away from him by the law.He did not have a choice but to cooperate with the law
