BESIGYE TRIAL: WITNESS CLAIMS KENYAN POLICE PLANTED GUNS IN HOTEL ROOM
The treason trial of Dr. Kizza Besigye took a dramatic turn after prosecution witness Andrew Wilson claimed that Kenyan police planted two pistols and fake currency to create a crime scene before Besigye and co-accused Hajji Obeid Lutale arrived at the Nairobi location where they were arrested.
Wilson told the High Court in Kampala on Tuesday, September 15, that the two men unknowingly walked into a pre-arranged location at Riverside Apartments during what he described as an intelligence-led operation.
The claim was made during cross-examination by Lutale’s lawyer, Farouq Kamulegeya, as the defence challenged the credibility of the prosecution’s evidence.
The trial continues before Justice Emmanuel Baguma.
