BITTERNESS AND VENGEANCE ONLY RESULTS IN DIVISION, FR. MUBANGA ADVISES GOVERNMENT

….says people who are vengeful and bitter end up hurting themselves

Luanshya.. Saturday, June 1, 2024

Catholic Priest Rev. Fr. Nicholas Mubanga has advised people in authority against vengeance and bitterness saying it results in division.

In his Holy Trinity Sunday homily at St. Ignatius Parish in Lusaka, Fr. Mubanga of Sacred Heart Parish in Roan, Luanshya said people who are vengeful and bitter end up hurting themselves.

The Lawyer and Advocate of the High Court of Zambia, said people are supposed to live in peace.

Fr Mubanga reminded believers to live in unity, peace and harmony like God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

He cited vengeance, bitterness, competition, and jealousy as some things that divide people.

“We are supposed to live in peace with one another as we are celebrating Trinity today. When we listen to the book of Deuteronomy, there is no need to live in confusion. When we listen to the Romans as Paul is giving them a reminder, there is no need to live in acrimony. What I have is not what you should have, what you have is not what I should have. But that should not divide us. What divides us? What confuses us? Comparisons: Please stay in your lane,” Fr. Mubanga said.

“Vengeance divides us, when are you going to let go? When are you going to calm down? People have ascended to the positions of authority but every day it is vengeance. Where is it taking you? No, I can’t keep him because the elder brother stole from me. But this one is different from that elder brother you were staying with. I was just telling people about the parable of the prodigal son, the elder brother was upset when he found a party for his brother.”

Fr. Mubanga emphasized the need to keep God’s commandment as a way of staying connected to Him.

“You don’t need to live in vengeance, you don’t need to live in anger. You end up hurting yourself and this thing divides us. I have always told people who are too moody, get back to your room and control your mood. Just learn to manage yourself. Even some of you who don’t smile please just control yourself. You go to work, you are not smiling, at your own house you are not smiling, you even come to Church you are not smiling. Where are you going to smile? Manage your bitterness. If you don’t manage your bitterness it divides us,” he added.

  1. When it comes to smart alecking, Catholic priests probably have no equals. And this is sad considering how long they stay in the seminary learning theology in combination with the ways of the world. It’s a pity because the Catholic Church has itself a very ugly history from which it doesn’t seem to have learned much. Even in the present it has some very serious challenges which require urgent attention. Catholic watchers wonder why these challenges are seemingly beyond the wisdoms its priests often dole out to governments around the world. I have been associated with the Catholic Church during my childhood but not anymore. The first foreigner I shook hands with was a Catholic priest from Poland. So I know some of the good the church does in the world. It’s capable of doing much more although it would rather see governments do more than they already do.

    • That’s what they are deliberately not talking about… tribal utterances by opposition leaders. we don’t want what happened in Rwanda.

  2. Father I am full Roman Catholic but you Catholic priests and bishops have been in the front row spuring on division amongst the people. You should be advising Lungu and his comrades about respecting the rule of law. Every country had a head of state that must be respected not insulted and accused falsely
. Lungu is bringing war into the country
    .stop it now.

  3. Great homily from a very learned Catholic Priest. Two key words stand out. Bitterness and Vengeance.
And as I continue my research on the Mingalatoon Theory, a case study of the self proclaimed Mingalatoon, the variables Bitterness and Vengeance will be thoroughly studied… effects of Antecedents such as Tribal influences , Exposure, Primitivity and Upbringing on Bitterness and Vengeance within the Context of Political power will be studied.
My dear Father, Catholic Priest, Mubanga I will be on your door, Tuesday next week. May our God be Praised.

  4. With due respect ba priest ba Mubanga, let us distinguish between accountability and vengeance. Holding people to account for their wrongdoing is not vengeance. For those who engaged in corruption like the Lungu family is being accused of, they impoverished the nation and the harsh effects of the reckless borrowing and pocketing of debt moneys will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Now ba Mubanga, are you suggesting that we should just overlook that and smile like fools? Please read Leviticus 6:1-6 regarding stealing money/property entrusted to you. One of the sad things about our country is that leaders plunder national resources entrusted to them knowing fully well that they will not be pursued. We need to put a stop to this by holding our leaders to account, including the current leadership.

How do you expect our nation to develop when each administration plunder our resources with abandon? How selfish can our leaders get?

Please ba priest Mubanga, donot mislead people that what is going on is vengeance. No, it is accountability, just like God will hold us to account for every word we have uttered and our every action.

  5. After Catholic priests bark biased nosense how do they expect non Catholics to respect them? Its extremely difficult for any non Catholic to think Catholic priest can provide constructive advise to Govt. Remember amongest the rank and file of Priests there are those that advocated for rigging elections to Prevent HH from becoming President.
Secondly during the regime of ECL their silence on the many evil things i.e gassing, maiming of UPND members, tribalism, extra Judicial killings was too loud for them to pretend now to be campus of morality.
There are many ordinary Catholics that can offer constructive advise and people will listen but unfortunately when it comes to the priests they lost it. Ordinary people see them for their partisan positions.

  6. With all due respect to ba father, it’s good to do justice to the nation, it’s people and uphold righteous, than to help and favour sinners with their evil minds and motives, NO, NOi it’s not health or good – wrong doings is wrong no doubt or two ways about it. Help them to repent, helping them to repent, I repeat and tell them to ask for forgiveness for all their wrongs period. The Bible is very clear, it does not Condon stealing neither does it defend thieves, NO. But only when they repent and ask for forgiveness. No one should dine and protect those who store from the country and left huge unsustainable debts which this government is struggling to handle and pay hence the challenges that we are going through as a country while you yourself are dining with Lungu everyday even in Kabwe, it was the same; you came out strongly yet you knew what you were doing , even defending thieves who are unrepentant? Why father. These people are spreading tribalism in the country and you are twisting the truth instead of helping them to unite the Country through the one , Zambia one Nation motto, but why?, why? You as father’s, one of you even said publicly in your homely in one of your Churches before the 2021 general elections, that it will be good to riggy the elections than to let HH win and rule this Country, that is you now as a group again changing and twisting the truth, why?. The other time when the president was explaining using graphs again Ike bakaponya you created and contributed to the unnecessarily talks which engulfed the country as if when people go kifyalo Kuma meetings they don’t use that as a means of explaining or communicating? even in schools we learn using graphs, but you …. we learn graphs why are you doing this. You have to be in the middle, condemn the wrong and help to put the wrong to right or in the right, than what is happening now from your side with your UKWA proxies it’s something else.

This Lungu and proxies group store money by giving themselves contracts for feeder roads under Local government, but without even working for it in some instances, they paid themselves money by delivering air and when they are followed you as father you go in the church and twist the truth by going harshly for the innocent HH? Why are you people like that? is it the snake dove style at play.

Why do you hate HH. It’s very bad.

The Bible is very clear here, thieves are thieves, if they don’t repent don’t protect evil minds but help them to repent

So there’s nothing that you are saying, No they are bitter, or vergency, people in authority, this and that. NO, NO Aikona man

      • Ba Bystander, we are using the Bible as our authority because the priest, ba Mubanga, is a christian and we are, Christians.

        What is your authority?

  7. The Catholic Church has been misleading Edgar Chagwa Lungu the preaching about bitterness and vengefulness targeted at president Hikainde Hichilema and his government is a misguided teaching and aimed at misleading masses. The entire Bible does not tolerate sin and criminality when people commit crimes they should not rush to Church for cover up but should face their consequences.

Former president Edgar Chagwa Lungu and his immediate family they accumulated massive
wealth and properties suspected to be proceeds of thieving and corruption. As such let explain Edgar Chagwa Lungu and his immediate family explain to the nation how they acquired wealth and properties within a short period of time Edgar Chagwa Lungu was in power. It is a known fact that Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s livelihood and past live before he became Minister and president was known to be average by the public. Let the Courts of Law decide his innocence than using the Church to defend his alleged criminal and corrupt acts. Public leadership demands transparency and accountability. From the way Father Mubanga was preaching he was saying that president Edgar Chagwa Lungu and all other former PF leaders should not be investigated and pursued for the past crimes they committed? It is unfortunate that Father Mubunga is using the Bible and the word of God to delude the masses about the meaning of bitterness and vengeance. When criminals and corrupt people and all those who committed atrocities and crimes are being pursued and brought before Courts of Laws that is not bitterness and vengeance on someone’s enemies.

The Church should be in the forefront to denounce sin, manipulation, thieving, corruption, hypocrisy, covetousness, bribery, nepotism, elite capture, fornication, adultery, envy, bitterness, jealous, tribalism, falsehood, false teachers of the word of God, selfishness, greediness and so forth.

What makes a leader entrusted to safeguard public resources to steal and get wealth dubiously is it not covetousness, greediness, envy and selfishness and love of pleasure and that is exactly what Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu did. He prioritised getting richer and accumulating wealth by evil meanings. If indeed Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu is a genuine and God fearing person has he claims to be, let him come out in the open and tell the truth who much wealth and properties he has and how he acquired them? God Almighty cannot be cheated or mocked. Accountability and godliness is demanded on all our leaders including the Church leaders and ordinary people. Promoting sinful and unrighteous acts is sending people to hell. There has been no relaxing of God’s demand for our personal holiness. It is required for our salvation. It is demanded of anyone before they enter the kingdom of God.
