Boris Johnson Calls on Britain to Act Over Imran Khan’s Imprisonment

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly called on the UK government to take urgent steps to help secure the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned for more than three years.

Johnson described Khan, the former Pakistan cricket star and political leader, as suffering inside a small prison cell in Pakistan and argued that Britain should use its diplomatic influence to assist in efforts toward his release.

Boris Johnson: “Pakistan’s cricketing hero Imran Khan is languishing in a small prison cell in Pakistan. It is time for Britain to use its influence to help secure Khan’s release from prison.”

Khan, who served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has faced multiple criminal cases since his removal from office.

His imprisonment has remained a major political issue in Pakistan, with his supporters arguing that the cases against him are politically motivated, while Pakistani authorities have rejected such allegations.
