PLOTS TO BAR ME FROM STANDING ARE HATCHED FROM STATE HOUSE, SADLY IT APPEARS THE JUDICIARY IS PARTICIPATING IN THESE DIRTY SCHEMES

Tuesday 1st October 2024

I have chosen to make my remarks on this matter because of their importance to the life and well-being of our country.

You are aware that recently, there have been legal petitions against my eligibility to stand as a presidential candidate in both 2021 and the future.

This matter has been settled by the Constitutional Court.

The re-opening of what was settled remains illegal and a clear act of lawlessness.

It is now common knowledge that the petitioners are surrogates of State House and the UPND.

We have all seen pictures of the petitioners with my competitor, President Hakainde Hichilema, and in many cases with his ministers, and senior UPND leaders.

This doesn’t bother us.

However, what bothers us is the credible information that members of the Judiciary are keen or have demonstrated interest to participate in these political and illegal schemes to bar me from participating in elections.

It is for this reason that we have raised a petition of recusal, on the need for some judges to recuse themselves, to create distance, promote the sense of impartiality and remove those perceived to have vested interest in the case.

My hopes and prayers are that there will be respect accorded to my application currently before court, to help restore confidence in the courts and the Judiciary.

The recent events where professionals have been removed and punished for doing a professional job makes very sad turn of events.

I have in mind the unconstitutional removal and harassment of the former Director of Public Prosecutions. Ms. Lillian Fulata Shawa Siyuni, the Registrar of Societies, Thandiwe Phiri-Mhende, and the recent suspension of 3 constitutional court judges among others.
All the complaint against the Judges were comprehensively dealt with, we see that the matter has been, without cause or justifications, been re-opened and the Judges stand suspended.
These developments are serious, and are undermining the rule of law and our democracy.

SCHEME TO UNDERMINE THE 2026 ELECTIONS

It has become very evident that schemes designed to undermine the 2026 presidential and general elections have been heightened.
From secret issuance of NRC to the secret registration of voters. The ECZ has not bothered to publicise this exercise and has not bothered to conduct   it in an open manner.

All these devious schemes are being implemented to attempt to destroy the opposition, decimate viable and credible candidates and present an opportunity for the UPND to steal the 2026 election.

Our call is that the participation of democratic institutions such Parliament, Judiciary and the Electoral Commission of Zambia in these illegal and dangerous schemes being perpetrated by State House would amount to the act of treachery and reversal to our democratic values and the democracy we constantly all aspire to achieve.

These actions are threatening national security and our cherished peace.

We make this call, to Zambians, who are the real custodians of both our peace and security, that democratic dividends earned so far must not be lost.

Both our independence in 1964 and our democracy in 1991, were hard-fought for and the sacrifices made by our forefathers must NEVER be sacrificed at the alter of political expedience and narrow partisan interests being perpetrated as being by President Hichilema.

Instead of focusing on the numerous challenges and crises facing our country such as load-shedding, high cost of living, poverty unemployment, lack of economic opportunity, volatile exchange rate, rising debt and rising inflation and the economic collapse that we face, President Hichilema is engaged in schemes to retain power at all cost, even at the expense of destroying our democracy and the rule of law.

What did he find when he assumed office? What was the price of mealie-meal? Fuel? Electricity? Fertiliser?cooking oil? sugar?
To win elections, one must work for the people and the economy of the country. One must NOT plot to retain power against the will of the people.

He must face me and should desist to use cowardly and dirty political schemes to bar my participation in the elections.

Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu

  1. I sometimes get to wonder why we don’t sieve the message that we want to release, l’m referring to ECL address yesterday. His address could have added value if it was held a bit later because at the moment he is still embroidered in the seizures of the wife’s flats and the farm for the daughter. How l thought that his advisers could have tipped him because yesterday’s address was like fooling the Zambians on what him and his family including close associates did to this country.l’m of the view that ECL should be careful with his advisers because they are exposing negatively.l thought of him speaking through UKA but alas he gathered courage and spoke with a voice that sounded like being forced.well 2026 is not far away,we will be seeing dramatic scenes around us.

    • I think with doing it now he may be trying to portray an image of the courts being captured by the state. The loss of his family’s assets being a consequence of it. ECL sympathizers may concur.

  2. TAKING OVER FROM SOMEBODY WHO HAD FAILED FOR A TOTAL OF 7 YEARS IS NOT EASY AND IF YOU THINK THE DIRT CAN BE CLEANED IN 3 YEARS, YOU ARE DAY DREAMING.
HH DOES NOT STEAL VOTES LIKE YOU. HE FOUGHT FOR HIS VICTORY. AS FAR AS ALL OF US KNOW, HH HAD NEVER BEEN DEFEATED AT ELECTIONS BY YOU. EVERY TIME YOU STOOD AGAINST HH YOU STOLE HIS VICTORY IN EACH CASE. YOU USED INTERNET TO CHANGE RELAYED FIGURES. NEXT, YOU USED VIOLENCE AND PRE- MARKED BALLOT PAPERS TO STEAL HIS VICTORY.
IN TERMS OF HH BRINGING THE PRICE OF COMMODITIES BACK TO WHERE HE FOUND THEM, I WOULD RATHER YOU STARTED THE EXERCISE BY TAKING US BACK INTO THE MIDDLE-INCOME BRACKET WHERE YOU FOUND THE MMD HA USHERED US INTO. IF YOU COULD NOT, HOW DO YOU EXPECT HH TO DO THAT? AS A PRESIDENT YOU NEVER SPOKE SENSE AND IN OPPOSITION, YOU ARE EVEN WORSE.

  3. This man is not okay upstairs and does not seem to understand the connection between the Debt mess he left and the current pain Zambians have to endure to correct things.
    He doesn’t understand simple Economics!
He has no idea how the Economy works!
Yes, we have to acknowledge also that UPND has been very disappointing in many aspects, like exporting Political food and electricity without thinking about tomorrow. These reckless actions by UPND have aggravated an already precarious Debt situation left by ECL!
However, credit to the New Dawn for correcting the Debt Mess and reviving the Mining Industry which is our only significant Forex earner (70-80% Dependency).
Mess up mining and you have a messed up Zambia!
Mess up with expensive Debt and you will have a dead Economy!
    Hence the urgency to diversify!
Those who lived through the Structural Adjustment program (SAP) and HIPC will tell you the situation you are going through now is even better than what we had to endure then. You have empowerment funds which we could only dream about that time. People are getting employed today but we had employment freeze that time.
We also had wage Freeze that time which you don’t have today.
You have enhanced Social Protection and Food for work programs to see the mos5 vulnerable through this dark economic cloud brought about by irresponsible and reckless leaders like ECL who chose to enrich himself at the expense of poor Zambians!
So ba ECL is being mischievous to mock and insult the intelligence of Zambians!
The best he should do is to shut up and say sorry for the debt mess he left the country with!
Maybe Zambians have become too desperate because of the economic hardships they are going through but it will be regrettably catastrophic for Zambians to go back to Egypt!
    Hold on! Persevere a little!
    Never give up!
    We are almost there!

  4. This man now suffers from Sabailitis and he needs to give it quick medical attention before it gets out of hand. Honestly speaking, which prices did he reduce or took back to where he found them? Instead, he left us in a terrible mess we are in now, the worst in the history of this country. Magande and his boss Mwanawasa left us with a very vibrant economy but within seven years, it was run down by Lungu. Instead of telling us the roadmap to revamp the very economy he ran down if he was given a third chance (God forbid), he is busy de-campaigning himself by talking about HH and his government. Is he not just confirming to us that he still has no vision to lead this country?

  5. FIRST TAKE BACK ALL THE MONEY YOU AND CO. STOLE THROUGH LOANS YOU FAKED WAS BEING SPENT ON INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS BUT ENDED UP IN YOUR POCKETS. YOU ENVEN STARTED GIVING GOVERNMENT PROPERTIES TO PRIESTS! YOU’RE A CURSED PERSON TOGETHER WITH YOUR GROUP.

  6. Going by by some seemingly choriograpged comments being made against one Chagwa, one would vividly see an element of denial of the reality on the ground. But the question is; for how long are we going to continue on this path of catch and kill when people have already made up their minds ? Kindly lets own up before we stress ourselves to death for nothing. If ECL is such a bad person as we claim he is; why wouldn’t we trust the people to see that for themselves rather than being restless every time the former is on the platform? Kambe lwaitulela fela kakuli lusinya fela nako yaluna. Shangwee !!!

    • Ba Michael, the comments are valid. Mr. Lungu wrecked our economy and destroyed many lives, literally – Nsama Nsama, Chibulo, Glazar Matapa, Joseph Kaunda, young Mugala, Vesper, et al. He is mocking us when he pleads his innocence and masquerades as our saviour when in actual fact he is our destroyer.

It would have been better for the government to have pursued this man and his family by CONVICTING them in the courts of law and then forfeiting their ill-gotten wealth to the state. It is not too late. Mr. Lungu and his family can still be convicted on other cases so that we have a record for reference. He might think that he played his cards smart, but thieves almost always make a slip up and Mr. Lungu is no exception.

As long as there is no conviction, this man will continue to shout his innocence.

  7. ECL needs to study economics for him to comprehend the mess he put Zambia into but I think he cannot manage because even the very law he studied is above his comprehension. Can someone please advice him to quit making a joke of himself.

  8. When PF took Government Kwacha was at K5 to one Dollar.

President Sata could have done better had he followed advice from our Intelligence Agency.
President Sata fired Kaizi following advice from our Intelligence service, but maintained ECL forgetting that Kaizi had more influence over ECL.

Who does not what to be president of Zambia?
By African tradition norms, nephews do not have to enter uncles house!!
