SUGGESTING CORRUPTION
By Nobert Mumba
As one of the early pioneer officers of the Anti Corruption Commission, I am very disappointed by the statement made by the Vice President on the matter of public importance on the leaked audio involving Mr Chabinga. It’s not only baffling but incomprehensible for the VP to state a self confession to an intention to bribe a judge is a mere suggestion.
The intentions in that audio are criminal and were actually followed on by overt acts of travel to SA by named persons in the audio. So why would the VP as the real custodian of government think otherwise? Here is why she should have made a more serious statement.
1. The audio casts the government as a sponsor of corruption
2. The audio places the President and other key government departments as the key actors that requested Mr Chabinga to proceed to SA.
3. The audio suggests there was infact contact with some South African police personnel to rescue a sponsored person in case there was trouble.
4. The audio clearly states that a judge also has to eat, a term synonymous with corruption in Zambian context.
5. The audio suggests sponsored public disorder of demonstrations to influence court outcome in another country to an action the government is a party.
So if the VP sees nothing wrong in these, then the fight against corruption is one-sided and cannot be won in present conditions.
For emphasis, the audio, endangers the President, the Head of Intelligence etc in international circles. It casts the government as a sponsor of corruption. It has caused public alarm and it is corrupt. These are all actions and intentions that violate various Laws of Zambia.
Finally if I were VP, below would have been my response to the important question raised by the Mpika MP.
” I thank the Hon Member on this important question. Government is deeply concerned by the audio which purports that it was involved in sponsoring a named Parliamentarian to undertake unlawful activity in South Africa and in Zambia.
Government has therefore requested the relevant agencies to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
Government wishes to emphasise that it does not condone corruption and any person found wanting will not be shielded.”

How some people focus on the negative side of a developing narrative makes me wonder. You can speculate and continue guessing until you grow horns, but this will not convert lies into fact. Just wait for time to pass, the truth will come out. In the end you people that are busy speculating will be left embarrassed and will then start looking for other stories to add your fabricated version or twist to.
The VP made an excellent rebuttal of the conversation. Just accept it. And get on with your life. If you have one.
Wow. Life as a paid blogger is tough. Anti the response was good?
Ati
Abena Huubbie, I am intelligent enough to make my own conclusions about a situation. I do not need to be paid by anyone. Or be guided or pushed in any direction of thought. So according to yowa great wisdom ( or foolishness) anyone who supports the government of the day here in Zambia is being paid? That level of analysis is that used by call boys at a bus station.
Just like they did on JJ Banda
Either way this is not right for the country. If some overzealous chaps created that, it is very bad for Zambian politics, really bad. If it’s authentic, that too is very bad and says alit about the character of political players and the game they play. Overall, the calibre of our elected MPs is very weak, maybe this says a lot about our civic and political maturity as a country…very disappointing.
Which is More serious ? Entering and staying in a foreign country on a Forged passport and a leaked AL audio !!!
When I saw the comments from the Vice President on the disgraceful Chabinga Audio Leak, I felt so embarrassed.
Attempting to bribe Judges in South Africa is just a suggestion??
Iye ba Mayo aba!
I doubt if Robert Chabinga will go to South Africa any time soon. I don’t think he will be welcomed with white gloves..Till proven that the Audio Leak is AI , this man might end up being detained in South Africa.
That’s when ba Mayo ba Nalumango will know that what is contained in that Audio is very serious.
The whole thing is just fake and rubbish. The buffoons created the so called leaked audio, have taken advantage of people’s computer illiteracy and ignorance of what AI can do. Corruption, Bribery and the like were normal in PF, and most of them were well baptized in such cancerous acts. And most of them are still facing related cases in court. Having now learnt that in the new dawn government, there are no sacred cows and that no one is involved in such vices is entertainrd, the buffoons schemed a syndicate using the concept and field of bribery/corruption in which they are professionals, just to implicate selected individuals. Unfortunately, being unrealistic bafoons, they chose to use characters in their AI fake scheme, that have easily made people not to believe The whole thing. Even the frogs in the ponds, are skeptical of the so called leaked audio. The writer even defines himself as one of the pioneers o Anti corruption in…., instead of just describing himself as one of the pioneers and agents of corruption.
