Chatunga Mugabe: ZRP Confirm Arrest and Name 4 Other Assault Suspects
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe (29) and four others.
In a press statement police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the five were arrested in connection with a case of assault which occurred at The Brompton Guest Lodge, Highlands, Harare on 3rd November 2026 at around 1830 hours.
The other suspects are Munashe Mubawu (43), Terrence Johannes Chinyemba (42), Fredson Peter (33) and Solomon Pamire (34).
While police have not named the complainant in the statement, it is alleged the case involves the assault of a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officer at the lodge.
More details are expected to emerge when the five appear in court. It is however understood that the assault occurred when ZACC officials tried to seize some to range vehicles with South African registration plates.
Police said the suspects will appear in court on 5th November 2026.
“More details will be released in due course,” Commissioner Nyathi said.
