Late today I received home some PF officials from Chawama constituency, Lusaka District & Lusaka Provice after the news of vacancy declaration of the Chawama seat.
Chawama seat has been held by the bonafide overwhelmingly elected MP Hon Tasila Lungu Mwansa but who now remains in mourning as long as her Father ECL is not burried. The UPND government stopped his burial via Court Injunctions. It’s been about 6 months now since.
The Speaker found it fit however to declare Hon Tasila seat vacant regardless apparently because she has not physically showed up into parliaments since her father died.
Meantime Zambia and Africa tradition forbids children and relatives of deceased from engaging into official activities until their beloved one is layed to rest. .
The mercenary aim is to have the by election take place before before December 12, 2025 beyond which the Constitution bars any by-election because its 6 months before the Parliament dissolves. They need numbers for the evil Bill 7.
Today I assured the Chawama and Lusaka officials that Chawama is our Seat and no matter what they do, it will never be held by UPND before Parliament dissolves in May 2026.
In 2001, Chawama signaled the end of the MMD then in power when they tried to grab it via a politically induced by-election. They then engagnged into massive violence to win it. Residents rejected them and oppostion candidate Geofrey Samukonga won. MMD never recovered thereon.
Hang in there Hon Tasila Mwansa Lungu. They wont grab your seat.

Mr. Miles Sampa, please. Not so long ago, PF needed an anchor party, NCP of Recerend Peter Chanda to win an election and that one MP is legally NCP. So, now how is PF going to win the Chawama Constituency without a party since Peter Chanda withdrew? Those are issues you should be addressing not just politicking to cadres to achieve what?

Sampa is now a scatter brain who has completely lost direction. Who doesn’t know that Zambian and African tradition forbids children and relatives of deceased from engaging into official activities until their beloved one is layed to rest. He is saying all these words merely to seek sympathy from the people of Chawama. He should know that everything under the sun has a time limit, there is no funeral in Zambia or Africa which is indefinite, a dead should buried within a reasonable short period of time, say days or weeks but surely not months or years. The thing that was meant to embarrass Hakainde has now boomeranged and it’s now the Family and PF who are being embarrassed. Even God can not be happy with these people, they are really a disgrace to themselves and to God also. And God will punish all those who are involved in this whole drama especially if they lied to Zambians that Lungu told them that his body should never be seen by President Hichilema. Did Lungu even know that he was going to die in SA? You can’t keep a corpse for 6 months and expect things to go on normally. This seat loss for Tasila Lungu is self inflicted, it’s a bitter pill that she has to swallow. She is a law maker herself who understands the Constitution very well and she should have seen it coming. Mr. Sampa and his PF are now saying that the UPND government stopped his burial via Court Injunctions. It’s been about 6 months now since. But the same Court in SA ruled that the body be repatriated to Zambia but the Sister to Lungu started crying and insulting the President right there in Court. So it’s the family which refused. What the government refused was to bury Lungu in SA because the Zambian government is under an obligation to conduct a State funeral for the former head of State. The grace was prepared within few days of his death and it’s still there waiting. That being the case, how the government prepare the grace and then stop the burial? Does it make sense? No it doesn’t.
And Chawama mulelusa, people don’t vote for names of parties or individuals, they vote for representation and development, something they have missed for the past 6 months.

Long overdue! Burying Lungu became family wishes and expulsion from parliament due to absenteeism the cry is evoking “tradition” which supposedly claims one in mourning is not supposed to engage in official duties! Where does this law if it even exists fit with parliament? Chawama is not a Constituency ya anyina!
