DAVIES MWILA BE.ATEN AFTER TELLING UPND CADRES THEY HAVE NO FOOD AT HOME.
Former Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila was beaten by suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres at the Supreme Court in Lusaka this morning.
The incident happened after a heated argument over the “Salt Sana” slogan.
According to witnesses, trouble started when Mr Mwila questioned how the cadres could continue shouting “Salt Sana” when, according to him, they had no food at home.
He went further, telling the cadres that they could not effectively fight political battles on an empty stomach.
His remarks angered the cadres, who turned against him and attacked him.
Witnesses said Mr Mwila was punched and knocked to the ground, leaving him struggling to stand on his own.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about political violence and intolerance in Zambia, especially when supporters of opposing political parties meet.
