DEMOCRATS BEGIN TO TURN ON ILHAN OMAR AS FORMER MINNESOTA DEM ADMITS MARRIAGE AND IMMIGRATION FRAUD ALLEGATIONS ARE LIKELY TRUE
A former Minnesota Democratic state representative has broken ranks and declared that the long-running allegations against Rep. Ilhan Omar are almost certainly true. Joe Radinovich, who once held office as a Democrat and worked deep inside the Minnesota DFL machine, stated that claims Omar entered a fraudulent marriage with her brother to game the immigration system hold up under scrutiny.
Radinovich dismissed Omar’s repeated insistence that the story is a right-wing conspiracy. “I’m not stupid,” he said, making clear he does not buy the denials. He noted that the pattern of her responses on related financial questions looks similarly weak and that an objective look at the available evidence does not look good for her.
The comments come as federal investigators continue examining the case. Homeland Security Investigations raided Omar’s Washington home earlier this month and seized her passport, phone, and computer. Court documents have referred to her under a name that includes the surname of her former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. Omar’s office continues to call the entire matter a political vendetta and a manufactured smear.
Radinovich’s public break is notable because he is not an outsider. He managed campaigns against Omar, served in Democratic leadership circles, and has long ties to the Minneapolis and statewide party establishment. His statement signals that at least some Democrats who know the record are no longer willing to defend the story.
Omar’s campaign has already attacked him personally, calling him troubled and obsessed. Party allies have lined up behind her for years. Yet Radinovich’s willingness to say the allegations are almost certainly true, and to reject the conspiracy framing, shows the protective wall around Omar is starting to crack from the inside.
