DeSantis Sounds the Alarm: Vote Republican Tuesday or Watch Florida Become California
Governor Ron DeSantis is making one last direct appeal to Florida Republicans ahead of Tuesday’s election, warning that the state’s hard-won progress hangs in the balance if Democrats are allowed any opening.
Standing in his Florida State Guard jacket, DeSantis told voters, “Fellow Republicans, please go out and vote on Tuesday. We’ve done so much in the great state of Florida, we’ve led the nation on so many things, we gotta keep that momentum going.”
He called for a clean sweep: “I’m asking you to vote for Republicans up and down the ballot. Vote yes on Amendment 3 to lower your property taxes.” Amendment 3 would raise the homestead exemption to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028 for non-school taxes while limiting non-homestead assessment increases to 5 percent, delivering real relief to homeowners.
DeSantis was blunt about the stakes. “Do not give the Democrats an inch. They get an inch, they’ll take a mile. We don’t want to end up like California, we don’t want to end up like Illinois. We’ve got to keep the momentum going. Please vote Republican on Tuesday.”
Early voting numbers show why the message matters. Democrats edged out the final day of in-person early voting by about 15,000 ballots, but Republicans hold a 134,000-vote advantage in mail ballots coming from red counties. That edge only holds if conservatives finish the job on Election Day.
Florida has become the national model for lower taxes, school choice, and rejecting the failed policies of high-tax blue states. DeSantis made clear that one weak turnout can erase years of that work. The choice is simple: lock in the gains or hand Democrats the chance to drag the state backward.- DTP
