Diego Simeone on why so many hate Cristiano Ronaldo:
“Ronaldo has humiliated so many teams. He has this ruthless ability to come back and punish anyone who underestimates him.
I still remember our Champions League clash with Juventus. We scored twice in the first leg.
Our fans were celebrating and mocking him.
Then in the second leg he scored a hat-trick and eliminated us. Unbelievable.
That night showed me exactly why he’s so dangerous.
Celebrate, provoke, doubt him all you want… just never count him out. He turns criticism into fuel and pressure into goals.
And he never forgets the people who doubted him.
I get why Atlético fans can’t stand him.
He left them with painful memories. But as a coach, I can only admire that mentality.
Talent plus that kind of hunger is rare.
Love him or hate him, prime Ronaldo is the player every top manager would kill to have.”
