Don’t blame UPND but PF for people’s suffering – Veep

THE suffering Zambians are going through due to the high cost of living is not the making of UPND but a legacy and natural calamity issue, Vice President Mutale Nalumango told Parliament yesterday.

Ms Nalumango yet again blamed the former governing Patriotic Front, for having borrowed recklessly and plunged the nation into a debt trap and economic turmoil.

“Is it this Government that caused drought….? Is it this Government that borrowed? The suffering Zambians are going through is not the creation of UPND,” she said.

  1. suffering stars on birth, the vice president is very correct especially when people are lady and depend on handouts as it was in Kaunda era as well as in Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s regime. For one to eat or have a reasonable life one needs to work not lazing around waiting for the government to provide free envelopes full of borrowed money. We are nation endured with vast pieces of land were we can do farming, chicken rearing etc.To all citizens,it’s high time we stop complaining and make sure we use our human resources to improve our lives.

    • You will say anything in defence of the “team”.It beats me why you cannot think beyond your team.!! It should not be that way! I love the Tonga language especially when spoken by aba simbi!!!

We are nation endured with vast pieces of land were we can do farming, chicken rearing etc.To all citizens,it’s high time we stop complaining and make sure we use our human resources to improve our lives.Hand outs are over gone because our current President and his team wants us to be self sufficient in everything no wonder on CDF projects citizens are the ones carrying out the projects and paid for the work they do.

    • Just “Bally fix it”. Tired of the same “it’s Lungu’s fault” routine. You thought governing is ranching cattle? Wake-wakey!!!

  3. Yes, because PF is still in power! And what happened to your wonderful but empty election promises? You people had no idea about what you were promising, right?

  4. This is the most dull vice president this country has ever had. Even Comrade Grey Zulu was more intelligent. But she must not spread her dullness to Zambians who are very normal! There’s nothing she does in Hichilema’s government. She doesn’t even know that Zambia through FRA has a lot of storage sheds where maize has been stored and can be stored up to today. What these dull politicians don’t realize early enough is that Zambians are watching the foolings that Upnd are making on the silent Zambians. But once Zambians decide that Nalumango is not worthy a politician to look up to , they put you aside! Look at Nevers Mumba, Felix Mutati, Kavindele, etc. Those so called politicians will never tick in this country because they are not worth the salt. They are big traitors! So after Upnd is out of power , it will be the end for a lot of Upnd politicians including Nalumango, Mwimbu, Nkombo, Mweetwa etc. Why fool Zambians in this way when she knows Hichilema sold the maize that was leftbin sheds by PF, she knows Hichilema’s government is using deals to import fuel, she knows that Hichilema decided to export our electricity to Namibia and South Africa. Because of the above actions by her boss Hichilema, Zambians are suffering because mealie meal is very expensive because FRA has no maize in reserves, Zambians are suffering load shedding, Zambians are suffering buying fuel at an inflated cost hence cost of all food stuff and groceries are very expensive. Even if you are a dull vice president, is it PF which is setting the price of fuel every month since 2021? Zambians let’s teach these dull Upnd politicians a good lesson by removing them from power!

    • Your dullness is sickening. You mean if the government had not sold the maize , there would be enough maize despite the drought? The same countries Zambia had helped when they faced drought are now now selling the country maize at even cheaper price.

      • We are buying maize cheaper than the price we sold it???? Is that what you’re saying? Please tell me you know the numbers or you’ve just another dull fool playing the wise one? How much per tonne in dollar did we sell and how much per tonne are we buying? Am very hopeful you know what you’re talking about.

  5. The Vice – President is perfectly right the problems Zambians are facing especially with the cost of living is because of the mismanagement of thé economy by the lazy crookedness of PF. Not any other and we can’t beat about the bush. We went through the same situation when President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa became Republican President in 2002 after the misrule of Chiluba and Nawakwi. The Carrington maize scandal Minister with her zero option zamtroop account dealer/dribler President FTJ Chiluba. We were told to tightened up our belts while the economy was being repaired by the Finance Minister Ngande Magande and the Levy Patrick Mwanawasa as PRESIDENT, Care Fundanga ad Bank of Zambia Governor and after some years it was well and better, thus was after meeting the HIPC bench marks – prudent fiscal management. The same is the case even today PF and Lungu destroyed the economy. Almost Everything they were doing was on inkongole, talk of fuel they left US$800 million debt to OMCs, Fertliser more than US$300 million debt to the suppliers of Fertliser, Maize they left More than US$500 million debt to the owners of maize, the small scale farmers, local contractors More ZMK200 Billion plus external debt and later failed to negotiate with the creditors on how they could be paying since the coffers were dry, operations were on oxygen (-) but today some of you without shame can even defend these crooks. Too bad.

The Vice- PRESIDENT is one of the most intelligent vice in command Zambia had ever produced, she articulates things with the coolness and wisdom from above not ba punka.baba.

PF left us in this mess and are the ones who brought us to the issue cost of living or
of the challenges we are going through apart from the ones that have come as a result of the drought. But for the cost of living it is PF

You are talking of FRA and sold maize, is it wise to just be relying on one seasons harvest for the rest of the years. It’s the principal of FIFO that works baba others the products will go to west even the issue of storage. Kindly learn to appreciate hard working people with vision otherwise you remain Mili old stock

One further order we must give you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: don’t associate with the brother whose life is undisciplined, and who despises the teaching we gave him. You know well that we ourselves are your examples here, and that our lives among you were never undisciplined. We did not eat anyone’s food without paying for it. In fact we toiled and laboured night and day to avoid being the slightest expense to any of you. This was not because we had no right to ask our necessities of you, but because we wanted to set you an example. When we were actually with you we gave you this principle to work on: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” Now we hear that you have some among you living quite undisciplined lives, never doing a stroke of work, and busy only in other people’s affairs. Our order to such men, indeed our appeal by the Lord Jesus Christ, is to settle down to work and eat the food they have earned themselves.

  6. People who talk about maize every day, I want to ask if there’s a shortage of mealie mill in shops.
The problem of high prices of mealie meal is the production of the commodity. Don’t exploit a farmer who produced it at a loss.
Try to produce a 50kg of maize and you will agree that it’s not cheap to produce and it’s hard to have it.
Insala nindiminwa te mpulilwa. ( Ukupwishe Insala kulima, tekulombalomba iyo.
It means – to finish hunger is to produce cultivate and not begging.

  7. the upnd guys are liayers and crooks with sweet talk. we have seen njala pa zambia, poor economy, expensive mealie meal, mingalato, expensive fuel, weak kwacha against dola, loadsheding, gold scandal at kk airport, stealing mineral called sugilite, upnd increased electricity connection fee from k1.7 to k 10 000 , tax holiday to foregin miners, 20% tax on poor zambian when they when football betting ticket, fake promises, excuse after excuse,hh traveling too much from his comminite house to state house every day in the morning and in after noon waisting fuel, time and disturbing other road users , big cdf announced money but no development expected,we have seen jj abuduction and abuduction of girls from the mobile money booth we stil remember,we are stil waiting for mealie meal of k50.

    • Wise man’, I want to give you a scenario. If you live in Chongwe and you are an estate agent, you look for a house for someone and you spent ZMW50.00 on transport, Airtime and stationary to advertise a House on rent. Would you make sense if your Fees to the client were ZMW30.00?
Are you sure you can continue with that loss making Business?
Can you put yourself in the shoes of a peasant farmer who spent ZMW5000.00 on inputs labour and transport them sold his Maize at ZMW3000.00 to the Brief case Business Man or ZMW4000.00 to the Government on a Promissory note that never even comes or takes years to get. Would you continue with maize farming when you hear that Soya beans costs a total of ZMW5000.00 upto the sale point and instantly gives you ZMW15000.00?
You will certainly opt to grow soya beans if you are a sensible farmer.
This was what was happening previously and to encourage Farmers, the current government sold off that borrowed maize from farmers who were given promissory notes to pay them off and increased the buy off price of Maize to ZMW350.00 per bag to encourage the farmer to revert back to growing maize which is the staple food and so many farmers did make an effort, sad that the draught defeated their efforts. Now this together with the difficulties that came with insufficient rains to fill up the Kariba Dam for electricity production has made the current government look bad or incapable to run state affairs.
Mankambiz( Man, Come on, get busy ) has explained very well where we were going with PF and why we are in this mess.
PF never really cared for people because for them it was total confusion in everything they did while they pilfered and partied with borrowed money.
Now that they know that the current government is getting closer to catching up with them, they are running to the clergy they probably ate with or are still eating with to divert the attention from their cases by peddling lies of this government shrinking the democratic space, police brutality and rampant arrests, hunger and load shading (even when they know the facts). The question is where were the clergy when lungu and his cadres were raining havoc on innocent citizens?
Where were they when cabinet, government, diplomatic service, and all other strategic positions were going to Northerners and Easterners? Where were they when innocent citizens were being murdered( most of them from Zambezi region)? Where were they when ZAF, Police, Army, Nursing jobs were going only to the two regions? Fact Check, foreign and local bursaries were being given to the same regions?
Where were they when guns were blazing all over and cadres were armed to the teeth?
Where were they when there were torture chambers at markets, bus stations and compounds for anyone seen to be supportive of UPND? WHERE WERE THEY WHEN IT WAS ALL OVER MEDIA THAT CERTAIN AREAS WERE NO GO AREAS FOR HH AND UPND?
Catholic Bishops, are you supporting PF because it is led by and dominant majority members are of your own tribes?
Do you realize that you are indirectly calling for tribal wars in this country by not allowing other tribes to participate in the governance and equal opportunities in this country?
Why should a small group of people make the whole country suffer by sabotaging efforts to recover the economy the same group damaged?
This same group of current opposition and selected clergy men is the type that loves quick money, easy money that they did not really work for.
They do not have the patience, for instance, to keep animals, allow them to multiply before they can reap the benefits in terms of Milk, Meat, Money etc. They can not eat vegetables while there is meat in front of them! They can not even wait for fish to multiply so that they have long term benefits.
This country needs a sober clergy, a sober parentage that starts by setting a good precedence.
Take a look at Super Ken’s or Mwanawasa’s Chidren and take a look at Chiluba or ECL’S Children and come up with something you Will draw up lessons for your benefit and those around you if you genuinely care for this country.
WILL YOU SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD?
LET THOSE THAT COME INTO CONFLICT WITH THE LAW FACE THE LAW ON THEIR OWN.
LET THOSE WHO STOLE REAP THE SEED THEY PLANTED.
LET THOSE THAT MISRULED THIS COUNTRY ACCOUNT FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
LET NO MAN PUT ASUNDER THAT WHICH GOD PUT TOGETHER.

      • In short, when HH spoke of K50 mealie meal, he had no idea what he was talking about or he was simply “singing songs” to the Zambian people? I seek your urgent answer to this question.

  8. UPNN has fulfilled 90% of it’s promises. The only remaining ones are power and mealie meal that’s all. Mines are operational even those shut down during Kaunda error. It is projected to that this year, we may have plenty of rain so UPND, do what you did during the previous season so that these thieves can have nothing to cry for. Edgar and the team of thieves are extremely desperate and desperate people are very dangerous. So UPND, watch out..

  9. Someone promised K50 mealie meal, condemning K150 mealie meal. He said K150 was too expensive before 2021. Do we still remember that person?
