DPP SLAPS ECZ WITH 48-HOUR ULTIMATUM
By Constance Shilengwe
THE Development People’s Party has given the Electoral Commission of Zambia 48 hours to suspend the 2026 Constituency Delimitation Exercise, citing lack of transparency and consultation.
In a letter dated February 9, DPP President Dr. Kafula Mubanga says the ECZ has proposed increasing constituencies from 156 to 226 without clearly explaining how the new boundaries were determined.
The party claims political parties and civil society were excluded from the process and is demanding a detailed technical report and a clear consultation timeline.
Dr. Mubanga warns that failure to respond within 48 hours will force the DPP to seek legal redress in the Constitutional Court.
The ECZ has yet to responded.
