Former president Jacob Zuma has announced a new Presidential Task Team within the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, a move aimed at strengthening the party’s daily operations as it prepares for upcoming local government elections.
The 11-member team includes Zuma’s son, Duduzane Zuma and is expected to play a central role in coordinating party activities and driving organisational growth.
Announcing the appointments, Zuma said the expanding demands of leading the party made it necessary to delegate responsibilities to a dedicated group that can ensure continuity in management.
“I cannot be everywhere at the same time,” Zuma said, noting that his frequent travel between cities such as Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town requires a team that remains actively engaged on the ground.
He added that the task team was formed to help advance the party’s mission and strengthen its structures nationwide.
“Our struggle is big and requires people working together with commitment,” Zuma said, emphasising the need for strong manpower to support the MK Party’s expansion.
