The European Union is investing hundreds of millions of Euros in Zambia through the Global Gateway Strategy to boost sustainable infrastructure, green energy, agriculture, and social development.



●Transport & Infrastructure Lobito Corridor: Developing and modernizing rail lines—such as a new route connecting Angola to Zambia and a €50 million Railway Sector Support Programme—to transform Zambia from a landlocked to a land-linked trade hub



●Great North Road: Upgrading the T2 section between Mpika and the Tanzanian border to lower transport costs and build climate resilience.



●Energy & Water

Zambia-Tanzania Interconnector Project (ZTIP): A €268 million flagship initiative linking Zambia’s grid to Tanzania, integrating regional power pool



Nexus Energy-Water (NEWZA 2.0): A €20 million program combining renewable solar energy with water management to lower commercial utility pumping costsIllute

●Education Reforms: A €40 million budget support package directed at modernizing Zambia’s education system and expanding vocational skills training.


●Gender-Based Violence Support: A €25 million program implementing prevention strategies and rolling out one-stop support centers for survivors.
