Federal judge forces Trump to answer for his own $10 billion BBC lawsuit under oath

Trump spent months telling the world the BBC owed him $10 billion. A judge just ruled that before he collects a dime, he has to answer questions.

Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett ordered Trump to sit for a sworn deposition by December 11, rejecting his attempt to put it off. If he refuses, he faces sanctions, up to and including dismissal of his own lawsuit.

This was not the first date. Trump canceled a deposition set for October 16, saying “matters of national importance” came first. That same week he was at a rally in Dalton, Georgia, and a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago.

BBC attorney Charles Tobin told the court:

“He was participating in party politics and prioritized that over sitting for the deposition.”

The case itself has been rough for him. In July, his own lawyers admitted they had no evidence the documentary was ever available to U.S. audiences. He dropped the claim against BBC Studios. A court ordered financial records from the Trump family trust, which opens up more than 400 companies.

Now he has to face the questions himself: his businesses, his money, and what he meant on January 6.

Discovery closes December 18. No podium, no rally crowd, no Truth Social. Just a witness chair and an oath.

He wanted a headline. He got discovery.

Thank you, Judge Lett, for making sure no one gets to sue and then skip the hard part.
