“We don’t want what happened with Mastantuono to happen again with Diomandé.
Giving a young player too much responsibility and too many minutes too early doesn’t always help them. Sometimes, it puts unnecessary pressure on them.
Look at Mastantuono. Everyone was excited to see him play, and we gave him opportunities early. But football at this level is different. When things don’t go well, the same people demanding minutes are often the first to criticize him.
With Diomandé, we won’t make that mistake. We know his quality, his potential and what he can become in the future. But we have to protect him, manage his minutes and allow him to develop step by step.
He will play. He will get his opportunities. But we will decide when he plays and how many minutes he gets — not the fans or the media.
I’d rather see Diomandé become a great player in two years than rush him now and damage his confidence.
Young players need patience. If you truly believe in them, sometimes the best thing you can do is not rush their development.”
