FUBE Faces Six Months in Jail Over MPUNDU’s Absence

By Memory Bbuku

The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has ordered former Chilubi Member of Parliament MULENGA FUBE to pay a 100,000 Kwacha bond or serve six months in prison for failing to produce former Nkana Member of Parliament BINWELL MPUNDU before court.

Magistrate WEBSTER MILUMBE directed that Mr. FUBE pays the amount once he is able to raise the money, after failing to account for Mr. MPUNDU’s whereabouts.

Mr. FUBE, together with former Kamfinsa Member of Parliament CHRISTOPHER KANG’OMBE, stood as sureties for Mr. MPUNDU in a case in which he is accused of seditious practices.

Earlier, Mr FUBE told the court that he did not know Mr. MPUNDU’s whereabouts, explaining that during their last conversation, the former lawmaker did not disclose his exact location.

Mr. FUBE further told the court that he was currently in detention over an undisclosed offence and needed more time to mobilise the bond money.

Meanwhile, Magistrate MILUMBE has given Mr. KANG’OMBE until November 23, 2026, to explain Mr. MPUNDU’s whereabouts.

Mr. MPUNDU is facing one count of seditious practices.
