GABOLA CHURCH FOUNDER DEFENDS THE USE OF ALCOHOL IN WORSHIP, SAYING CONGREGANTS CAN DRINK, PRAY AND PRAISE GOD AT THE SAME TIME

The founder of Gabola Church has once again sparked discussion after explaining the role alcohol plays in his ministry. Speaking while arriving for a church service, he described alcohol as more than just a beverage, saying he believes it can help bring people together and form part of their spiritual experience.

According to the church leader, members of the congregation are encouraged to worship, pray and participate in church activities while enjoying alcoholic drinks. He argued that drinking and praising God are not mutually exclusive and that believers can still seek spiritual guidance and deliverance while consuming alcohol.

Gabola Church, which has attracted national and international attention over the years, remains one of South Africa’s most controversial religious movements. Supporters say the church welcomes people who may feel excluded from traditional places of worship, while critics question whether alcohol should play such a central role in religious services.

The church continues to generate debate about faith, tradition, personal freedom and the different ways people choose to express their spirituality.

Do you believe alcohol has a place in religious worship, or should church services remain alcohol-free?
