GOVERNMENT AND ECL FAMILY VOW TO AVOID ACTIONS THAT COULD ESCALATE TENSIONS AS BURIAL NEGOTIATIONS RESUME

By: Mwema Shanshima

Government and the family of the late sixth president, Dr. Edgar Lungu, have officially commenced formal discussions aimed at honouring his legacy and fostering national reconciliation.

In a joint statement released today, both parties affirmed their shared commitment to a mediated process that will address outstanding issues while promoting trust and unity.

The statement, signed by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa and family spokesperson Makebi Zulu, emphasized the importance of mutual respect and collaboration.

It noted that both government and the Lungu family have agreed to avoid actions that could escalate tensions, pledging instead to keep the public informed as discussions progress.

The talks are expected to cover a range of matters, including memorial arrangements, historical recognition, and the preservation of Dr. Lungu’s legacy in national discourse.

  1. It seems those talks are meant to save face for the Lungu family given the inevitable loss if they continued with the legal case in courts. Black Jesus has already eaten some of their money and the first white SA lawyer also ate a big chunk of the stolen money they got from Malanji!
They know they will lose again in court if they continue. Ordinary SAs don’t want to host thieves in their country.

    • Hope all the appeals to the foreign higher courts are also withdrawn according to the so called vows. Hope the vows won’t involve segregation content of mourners. Hope the vows will reflect the national tradition. Hope the vows will reflect reconciliation and finally give the expected dignified national send off and burial of our former republican president and commander in chief of the armed forces in Zambia.

  2. This is waste of time and money. Just let this crook family have their corpse and keep it. This whole thing now seems to be like a South American drug thing. Let these idiots be.

  3. Lungu was shot dead in SA for a drugs deal gone wrong, that’s why he registered himself with a Zimbabwean passport and that’s why the corrupt LUNGU family don’t want anyone to see the rotting corpse…..because it has bullet holes.
    Bring our money back ……
