Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haïmbé has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda to represent President Hakainde Hichilema at the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The summit, scheduled for 1 to 4 November, is being held under the theme “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth”.
In a statement issued on Monday, 2 November, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Zambia would use the gathering to strengthen diplomatic relations, attract investment and expand international trade opportunities.
Haïmbé is also expected to participate in the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting and the 75th Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) meeting, where Zambia serves as Vice-Chair.
The Ministry said discussions would cover economic governance, climate financing, peace and security, democracy and sustainable development.
The Zambian delegation will also attend the Commonwealth Business Forum and meetings focusing on youth empowerment, gender equality, health and climate action.
On the sidelines of the summit, Zambia plans to hold bilateral talks with Commonwealth member states and development partners to promote investment and explore new areas of cooperation.
The Ministry further disclosed that the engagements would support Zambia’s bid to host the Commonwealth Youth Centre again, as part of efforts to strengthen youth development and international cooperation.
The Government says its participation forms part of the Grow Zambia Agenda, which seeks to attract investment, expand access to international markets and strengthen economic partnerships.
