HH IS NOT MATURED ENOUGH TO BE AN AFRICAN LEADER SAYS DR MUSUMALI.
Socialist Party General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali says the election of President Hakainde Hichilema as Vice-Chairperson of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) presents a significant opportunity for Zambia to strengthen its economic diplomacy and influence regional development.
However, Dr Musumali has expressed serious reservations about President Hichilema’s leadership on the continental stage, arguing that the Head of State has not yet demonstrated the political maturity expected of an African leader.
Dr Musumali believes that President Hichilema has, on certain occasions, exhibited shortcomings in his approach to continental affairs, raising questions about his ability to champion Africa’s collective interests.
He maintains that occupying a prominent regional leadership position must go beyond political recognition and should translate into meaningful economic cooperation, stronger regional integration and the advancement of Africa’s strategic interests.
