HH’s NEW FRONTIER
…. the President prepares to unveil a cross-generational team engineered to spark economic revival

By DAVID KANDUZA
A DEFINING defining chapter of President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration is unfolding this week or week after.

Following parliamentary approval for a suite of newly created ministries, State House is buzzing with anticipation.

The President is poised to announce a reshaped, high-octane ‘Grow Zambia’ Cabinet—a team specifically engineered to spearhead the nation’s next aggressive economic frontier.

President Hichilema’s upcoming roster is a calculated departure from traditional political alignment.

It is designed instead as a deliberate mosaic: a strategic blend of fiery youth, influential women leaders and battle-tested legislative veterans.

At the heart of this upcoming transition is Monze West Constituency Member of Parliament Jacob Mwiimbu.

Widely regarded as one of the sharpest legislative minds in the United National Development (UPND) ranks, Mr Mwiimbu’s steady hand is expected to be a central pillar of the new governance structure.

With decades of parliamentary experience, Mr Mwiimbu represents institutional memory and stability.

In a political landscape often disrupted by rapid change, his presence provides a crucial anchor.

It ensures that while the ‘Grow Zambia’ agenda pushes into progressive, unchartered territory, the machinery of State remains firmly grounded in law, order and procedural excellence.

While veterans like Mr Mwiimbu provide the foundation, the true engine of the new ministries lies in an influx of youth and women.

The administration’s shift reflects a growing realisation: to ‘Grow Zambia,’ the economic drivers must mirror the demographics of the marketplace.

Political experts suggest that key positions within the newly created portfolios should be handed to tech-savvy, energetic young reformists.

These individuals are unburdened by old bureaucratic habits and are eager to fast-track digital transformation, sustainable agriculture, and entrepreneurship.

The new Cabinet structure leans heavily into gender equity. This is not just for representation, but to place seasoned female technocrats and leaders directly in charge of heavy-hitting economic and social development portfolios.

The restructuring comes at a critical juncture.

The newly approved ministries are expected to streamline operations, cut bureaucratic red tape and focus directly on accelerating local manufacturing and value addition

By pairing, with the innovative disruption of women and young leaders, President Hichilema is making a high-stakes bet.

He is wagering that a mixed team can bridge the gap between policy and real-world execution.

As the official announcement looms, the nation watches closely.

This is more than a mere political reshuffle—it is the unveiling of the team tasked with building Zambia’s future.
