UNLESS and until the UPND government change their style of governance and begin fearing and listening to people, the riots and protests that have started will soon become spontaneous and it will not be long before the Hakainde Hichilema will be consumed by the people’s anger and power, Harry Kalaba has warned.
Yesterday, residents of Mansa’s Namwandwe area rioted after a suspected UPND cadre attempted a man who was playing the Patriotic Front (PF) popular song alebwelelapo but was met with resistance from women and other onlookers.
In a running battle, Police had to fire teargas canisters after the resident armed an assortment of ammunitions including stones spilled on the road, burning tyres and anything they came across.
“We warned Mr Hakaninde Hichilema to start listening to the cries and demands of the people but because of his arrogance, he believes he can use the police to suppress the anger of Zambians.

You Kalaba are consumed with anger, frustration bitterness, confusion, hatred and jealousy. By now you know you will not be President after 2026 neither are you going to be on the ballot paper. All your antics have led you nowhere. Shame on you little confused man.
Why mixing issues ba Kalaba, the riots were sparked by someone who tried to stop the person who was playing PF alebwelelapo song and that had nothing to do with HH or UPND. Moreover, you are saying, a suspected UPND, there was no confirmation at all. So stage managing can’t be ruled out, we know that some people are using different methods trying to incite citizens at large to rise against a legitimate democratically elected government. There is no genuine UPND supporter who can stop anyone playing a PF song or wearing a PF party regalia, UPND is a decent party, it doesn’t have quacks. This song has been playing anywhere in the country since August 2021 without any incidence. It’s just your wishful thinking that one day people should riot and consume HH with their anger. But it may not happen because even in Luapula where UPND never won a seat, people there cannot vote for your CF party.
