HON. ROBERT CHABINGA WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

United Kingdom, 8th December 2024.  Zambian opposition leader Robert Chabinga has been recognized as the Distinctive Visionary Leader of the Year at the Global Leadership Forum. This prestigious award is a testament to Chabinga’s outstanding leadership and vision for Zambia’s digital transformation.



In his remarks, Chabinga emphasized the importance of balancing digital advancements in developing economies. He highlighted Zambia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy (2023-2027), which aims to create a digital economy by integrating digital technologies across all industries.

Chabinga also acknowledged the progress Zambia has made in improving its digital infrastructure, including broadband coverage, communication towers, and data centers. He noted that digital financial services and platforms have also grown significantly in the country.



As the opposition leader, Chabinga stressed the need to address gaps in digital access and provide digital literacy programs to equip citizens with the necessary skills. He also called for government subsidies and incentives to reduce the cost of digital devices and internet services for low-income households.

Chabinga concluded by emphasizing the need for developing nations to receive financial support from industrialized nations to establish digital infrastructure and keep up with rapidly advancing artificial intelligence technology.

Robert Chabinga is a Zambian politician who has been serving as the Leader of the Opposition since November 2023. He is also the acting president of the Patriotic Front (PF) party and has been a member of parliament for the Mafinga constituency.
