I AM HAPPY HICHILEMA IS STILL PRESIDENT; MUNDUBILE IS PF COMING BACK, SAYS LAURA
Political commentator Laura Miti says she is happy Hakainde Hichilema is still Republican President as the victory of Brian Mundubile was going to mean return of Patriotic Front (PF).
And Miti says former Zambian diplomat Emmanuel Mwamba is a danger to our country because he is someone who makes up stories while growing number of people are relying on him for information.
Featuring on 5 FM’s Burning Issue on Tuesday morning, Miti said while Brian Mundubile, voting for him and his running mate Makebi Zulu was going to mean taking the country back to the former Patriotic Front (PF) regime
“Would I have wanted president Mundubile to win, I will say no! When I close my eyes and I think this country in the hands of president Mundubile, my brain freezes,” she said. “As a person, I think Brian Mundubile is a nice guy but I don’t see a president in him and I just don’t understand where we would have gone under president Mundubile and I don’t want PF back [in government].I think president Mundubile was essentially PF coming back, like we saw in the 30 minutes when he declared himself president and the cadres went out to start grabbing back their shops and that kind of things… that’s exactly where we would be.”
I don’t want PF back, she declared.
“So, while I am really sad and upset about the things that have happened, we Zambians need to put a stop and say, ‘we cannot continue destroying our democracy this way,’ when I look at us as an economic entity, I am happy that President Hichilema is in office,” Miti said.
And Miti accused Emmanuel Mwamba being a danger to Zambia who should be extradited to Zambia to come and face criminal charges.
She complained that Mwamba makes up stories but the people abroad are increasingly relying on him for news.
“They are not talking about how dangerous Emmanuel Mwamba is to our country. You can’t have someone who makes up stories to the extent to which Emmanuel Mwamba does,” said Miti. “But he’s a kind of person on whom they’re relying.
When you hear the Zambians abroad, the bile, the poison against this entity we all have, I have a problem with that. I am all for people’s rights to say what they believe, but making up stories, pushing hate like Jay Jay [former Petauke Central MP Emmanuel Banda] does, poisoning millions of minds is a problem. You must balance these conversations.
You cannot suddenly declare that these are wonderful people, they’re not! Emmanuel is a fugitive from justice. He actually probably should be extradited home to face his case.
So, when we hear what the people outside Zambia say, we should also sit back and say, what do we ourselves believe; what do we ourselves think about this vehicle called Zambia, we the citizens, separate from the politicians; politicians come and go but this is our entity.”
