I HAVE NOT ATTACKED JOHN SANGWA-NEVERS MUMBA

I wish to correct a false Story circulating online, purportedly suggesting that I made disparaging remarks about State Counsel John Sangwa following his recent announcement to step away from active legal practice and pursue a political path. (SEE BELOW)

Let me be CLEAR: I have made no such statement. In fact, my position is quite the opposite.

I warmly welcome Counsel John Sangwa into the national political arena. As one of Zambia’s most distinguished legal minds, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and has made profound contributions to the legal profession and the country at large. His decision to engage in the political discourse is not only commendable but also timely, given our nation’s ongoing quest for renewal and progress.

My own entry into politics was driven by a similar desire to serve beyond the pulpit—after years of leadership in the church, I felt called to contribute to the table of dialogue and governance at a national level.

Similarly, President Hakainde Hichilema transitioned from a successful Finance and Investment background, and was a leading business entrepreneur before he decided to run for   national leadership, bringing with him, valuable insights and experience from the business world.

In this spirit, I celebrate Mr. Sangwa’s move and look forward to meaningful and constructive engagement in shaping Zambia’s future. This is as it should be. National leadership is not the exclussive preserve of career politicians. The table should allow distinguished Zambians who have shown exceptional competence in their fields of expertise to also participate without undue prejudice. After all, there is no specialized university that grooms Presidents, it therefore follows that the choice of people to run for President must be Zambians with outstanding leadership ability across various disciplines and vocations, and on this, Counsel Sangwa qualifies, no question!

I know that he joins us at antime when Zambian Politics is cut throat and a bare knuckles fight. However, if he made it in the courtroom, he must now take some of that strength he gathered along the way to the political battlefield.

Once again, I am quite dissappointed with the Citizems online paper. This is not the kind of reporting we need.

Ala Ba Candidates muli babufi!
