“I SHAVED FOR NOTHING!” LUSAKA WOMAN CRIES AS HUSBAND TAKES HIS DRILLING MACHINE TO BEST FRIEND

A LUSAKA woman has left the Matero Local Court in tears, lamenting that she had been shaving and preparing her matrimonial garden for a husband who allegedly decided to take his drilling machine to her best friend’s backyard.
“I have been shaving for nothing! I wanted him to come and drill properly, but the man no longer wants to touch me!” the heartbroken woman cried, leaving her matrimonial investment looking like a project that had been abandoned before commissioning.
Inonge Nyambe, 30, dragged her husband, Elijah Banda, 34, to court for divorce and adultery, alleging that the father of her two children had suddenly turned their bedroom into a sleeping laboratory where experiments ended at the words, “I am tired.”
According to Inonge, her husband started misbehaving on December 26 last year. The last time he allegedly touched her and harvested the chlorophyll from her forbidden fruit was on December 25, when the world was celebrating the birth of the Messiah.
From that day onwards, the matrimonial bedroom reportedly became colder than a mortuary refrigerator.
Whenever Inonge tried to initiate proceedings in the bedroom, Elijah allegedly produced the same excuse like a lawyer who had memorised only one defence.
“I am tired,” he would reportedly say.
The poor woman was left wondering whether her husband was working underground in a mine, carrying bags of cement or running a marathon in his sleep.
She continued preparing herself, hoping that one day the matrimonial machinery would roar back to life. But according to her, the machine was not broken; it had allegedly found another workshop.
“Little did I know that my best friend Elizabeth Kangwa was making my husband tired after fetching water from her,” Inonge reportedly told the court.
She said she never imagined that Elizabeth, a divorced mother of four, could allegedly betray her in such a painful manner.
The two women were reportedly so close that Inonge regularly shared her marital problems with Elizabeth, explaining how her husband had become a permanent member of the *I Am Tired Association*.
Instead of telling her to investigate why Elijah had suddenly retired from his matrimonial duties, Elizabeth allegedly encouraged her to keep believing in God.
“She used to tell me that my husband was under attack and that one day he would change,” Inonge narrated.
Unfortunately, according to her allegations, while she was busy praying for the restoration of her marriage, her best friend was allegedly involved with the very man whose behaviour they had been discussing.
It was a case of taking marital problems to the wrong customer care department.
Inonge told the court that Elijah had allegedly been purchasing Elizabeth’s affection while she remained at home wondering why her husband’s battery could no longer hold a charge.
The alleged betrayal was exposed when Inonge travelled to Chawama to visit her mother.
Upon returning, someone reportedly approached her with information that could make even a village gossip abandon their lunch.
“I was told that I should go and see my husband entering my friend’s house,” she reportedly said.
That was when Inonge allegedly followed the trail to Elizabeth’s residence, where she found the pair together, allegedly mining each other’s affection.
For Inonge, it was a painful discovery. The woman she had trusted with her marital secrets was allegedly sharing more than prayers with her husband.
Imagine telling your best friend that your husband no longer touches you, only to discover that the same man allegedly has enough energy to visit her house. That is when a woman begins questioning whether the problem was tiredness or simply a change of operating address.
When Elijah’s turn to testify came, he reportedly admitted that he was involved with his wife’s best friend.
He allegedly defended his actions by claiming that Elizabeth was clean, while Inonge did not know how to take care of herself.
Elijah reportedly said he was no longer interested in Inonge and wanted to proceed with marrying Elizabeth.
His explanation left the marriage looking like a vehicle that had been declared a write-off, with the husband already shopping for a replacement.
After hearing both parties, the court ordered the couple to divorce.
The court further ordered Elijah to pay Inonge K20,000 and monthly maintenance of K2,500 for the children.
