I WILL STILL WELCOME OPPOSITION POLITICIANS DESPITE MY SUPPORT FOR LUNGU – MPEZENI
Paramount chief of the Ngoni people, Mpezeni says he will welcome opposition leaders to his palace despite his endorsement of President Edgar Lungu, saying they are also people.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mpezeni said it was a lie to suggest that he would not receive those from the opposition just because he has urged people to support President Lungu and the ruling PF.
“Ningalepele bwanji ine kubapokelela, kaili si bantu na onso (Why shouldn’t i receive them? Are they not people also)?” Mpezeni asked. “Nizabapokelela, bango kamba, si boza? Ehe nizabapokelela (I will welcome them, those saying otherwise are lying. I will receive them.”
Mpezeni has been unflinching in his support for the President and PF, even so far as being heavily involved in the adoptions of some candidates in his chiefdom, although several were left out in preference for those suggested by former president Rupiah Banda.
However, some candidates whom he supported and are running as independents after being left out have still retained.
