IBRAHIM MWAMBA BEGS HH FOR COMPENSATION AFTER CAMPAIGN ATTACKS IN SHIBUYUNJI

SASYDA President General and Mwembezhi East losing independent candidate Ibrahim Mwamba has appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND leadership to compensate him for property damaged by suspected UPND cadres during campaigns in Shibuyunji District.
Addressing the President directly, Mwamba said vehicles and a hired PA system were destroyed during the campaign period. He said the attack also left him with political and personal scars.
“I know investigation should be done and those responsible arrested. I’ve not used that issue with the Police,” Mwamba said. “There was a day that we were sent to almost be killed, but I’ve survived. We have survived, but there is damage. President, damage to my political career by people that had a system that destroyed.”
Mwamba told the President that despite the ordeal, he remains committed to peace and national unity. He said he comes from a community that values one people, one family.
“Mr. President, you are the leader and father of this country. I want to take this opportunity. I’m asking you face to face as President of the nation to help me recover from that damage done to me,” he said. “I have officially written to your office, to the response office, to see how best I can be assisted.”
The independent candidate clarified that he has not petitioned the election results in Mwembezhi East. Instead, he said his appeal is purely on humanitarian grounds to recover losses incurred.
Mr. Mwamba the first thing was to report to the police. That compensation may not easily come.
