INDEPENDENT ANITA KAMANGA RETIRES MASEBO, WINS CHONGWE EAST SEAT
Independent candidate Anita Kamanga, a former Chongwe Deputy Mayor has won the Chongwe Parliamentary seat defeating veteran politician Sylvia Masebo in the 2026 General Election.
Kamanga’s victory marks a major upset in Chongwe, as the former deputy mayor unseats Masebo, a long-serving figure in Zambian politics.
Her victory adds to the growing number of electoral upsets reported across the country following Thursday’s elections with independent candidates also making significant gains.
Independent candidate Anita Kamanga has scooped the Chongwe East parliamentary seat with 16,058 votes.
She was followed by UPND candidate Sylvia Masebo who polled 6,798 votes.
