INDONESIAN PRESIDENT PRABOWO SUBIANTO EMOTIONAL IN SPEECH ON PALESTINE
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered an emotional speech on Palestine, at one point becoming visibly moved as he repeatedly declared “Free Palestine.”
During the event, the Palestinian ambassador placed a keffiyeh, a traditional Palestinian scarf and widely recognized symbol of Palestinian identity, around Prabowo’s neck.
Prabowo said he was deeply distressed by the ongoing violence and airstrikes affecting Palestinians, while expressing frustration over what he described as the international community’s inability to stop the suffering.
He also called for Indonesia to strengthen its national capabilities so it can better defend people facing persecution and reiterated his government’s stated commitment to Palestinian independence and self-determination.
