Iran Grants Safe Passage to South African Vessels Through Strait of Hormuz
Iran has confirmed that South African-linked cargo ships and oil tankers can pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz without interruption.
The assurance comes from Iran’s ambassador to South Africa, citing strong bilateral ties and Pretoria’s refusal to cut relations with Tehran amid the regional conflict.
South African Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe has stated that shipments destined for the country are flowing smoothly thanks to this arrangement.
This special treatment applies to “friendly” nations, including some BRICS partners, while vessels linked to the US and Israel face restrictions.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a tense global oil chokepoint.
