HON JACK MWIIMBU BREATHES FIRE.

Jacob Mwiimbu slams opposition, Church, and civil society’s silence on the the political atmosphere in the country.

He categorically stated:
“It is heavy on my heart to witness the level of hate being directed toward President Hichilema,” This is not the Zambia we want.

As a veteran lawmaker he expressed deep disappointment that key societal pillars—traditionally quick to speak out on governance and human rights—have remained conspicuously silent even when the President’s life was explicitly threatened by the likes of JJ Banda and others.

He firmly defended the arrest of individuals who have reportedly issued death threats against the Republican President. He reminded the House that State security wings operate under strict constitutional mandates to protect the presidency and were under no obligation to report to or seek permission from civil society or opposition factions before neutralising security threats.

He justified the extradition and arrest of the former fugitive lawmaker Emmanuel Jay Banda from Mozambique. However he described the circumstances surrounding arrest as unfortunate because the neighbouring country Mozambique was being dragged into domestic political drama to explain the mechanics of a legitimate law enforcement extradition.

Mr Mwiimbu implied that the political noise surrounding the case was being manufactured to cause division and underermine the State’s legal processes.

He however issued a passionate plea to the church, civic leaders and ordinary citizens to reject the politics of malice.

Finally, Mr Mwiimbu urged a return to a more unified nation, warning that the unchecked abuse of the presidency sets a dangerous and toxic precedent for the future of Zambian democracy. One Zambia one Nation
