KABESHA WAS WRONG TO SAY THE STATE CAN BURRY WITHOUT THE FAMILY – EFZ

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Board Chairperson, Paul Mususu, has described as “brutal” the statement by Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha, that the State could proceed to bury late former President Edgar Lungu without the participation of his family.

Bishop Mususu said government must continue engaging the family, despite the courts ruling that the body be repatriated to Zambia.

Speaking when he featured on Radio Christian Voice’s Chatback program on the topic “Role of the Church in the ECL Burial Impasse,” Bishop Mususu stressed that it would be immoral for the State to proceed with the burial without the family’s involvement.

“Regardless of the court’s judgment on Friday or any other date, dialogue must continue,” said Bishop Mususu.

The Board Chair also expressed sadness over the level of mockery by some Zambians regarding the burial dispute, urging citizens to uphold the nation’s cultural values.

He said that there is need for Zambians to go back to the tradition of respecting the dead and resolving disputes after burial.

  1. We have fools running churches. They can’t even listen to very clear explanations, but are very eager to mislead the citizens. Kabesha is a Zambian official who work do and if the Lungu family wants to be doing hide and seek, the government and Zambian people have so many things to do. We don’t need propaganda, from people who think they are the only ones whose oppositions matter. We have Mwamba the chief propaganda and fake news producer we don’t need more.

    • Yes, it is very disappointing for a church leader to make such a misleading statement without getting the full context of what was said. I personally watched the program and the AG was very clear and emphasized that government does not want to sideline the family but if the family decides not to participate in the program, should the court uphold the ruling of late president ECL’s remains being repatriated to Zambia, he said, then government will have no choice but to proceed without the family. Does the bishop want the remains of ECL to remain unbarried indefinitely should the family decide to boycott the program despite government’s efforts to engage them? Let me remind the bishop that there instances where the government barries dead bodies without the family being president, like unclaimed bodies, those who die from contagious disease, etc. and since the late former president ECL is a national property, the government can proceed without the family if they decide to boycott.

    • @James
These are the Praise Idiots unleashed on Zambia, with a license to even insult Church mother bodies..
Together with the Rogues running Koswe , Zambia Watchdog , these miscreants have been let loose on Zambia to daily insult Innocent people just for holding different opinions from theirs.
      What a Zambia.

      • One Thousand/Zambiano: As you similarly insult those you don’t agree with (Praise Idiots, rogues, miscreants). Amazing how you lack introspection and are constantly projecting.

      • Who in his or her right frame of mind can insult Bishop Paul Mususu?
Do some of these people know who this man is?
Paul Mususu is not just a Bishop but his voice has been a beacon of hope in Zambia during difficult times. Unrelenting in his Vocation and a reservoir of Wisdom and Counsel for the country.. through the inception of our Multi Party Democracy, Chiluba’s third Term , Levy Mwanawasa, Rupiah Banda, Michael Sata and Edgar Lungu.Today, in Hakainde’s Zambia, some one can call this man a fool! Iyeeeh.

        • I care that TRUTH prevails. Pretend Christians like you don’t get a pass by clutching your cross and faking humility and decency. Stick to the truth (that’s also in that bible you read and pretend to follow) and stop deflecting and lying in your posts: no one insulted the Bishop, just asked him to truthfully represent the situation, something you have never once done here.

        • So the Bishop is not human? He can not be wrong? Ba mudala imwe. You need serious help. Just the issue being raised is straight forward and you lack the ability to decern context or basic comprehension. Insults are the only thing you can do to push you arguememt.

  2. Very sad indeed that churches today have become political insteady of sticking to preaching the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mr Kabesha was very clear on the matter but sad to hear misleading statements from our leaders.

  3. With due respect to Bishop Mususu who said it was morally wrong for Attorney Geberal to say that Government can bury without the family, that is the legal position. Attorney General is principal legal adviser to Government and law is not concerned about morality.

  4. Kabesha was stating a legal fact, the right to that body was given to government and all he stated was a fact as per the judgement. Just like Jusus answered Pontius Pilate where in Bemba you say ” NULANDA NUSOSA” or I AM, simply stating a fact

  5. This same PFools through Given Zayelo Lubinda did indicate that they would proceed to bury KK even without the family…
Correct me if I am wrong, Bishop Musus didn’t even raise a small finger to that statement…
    What has changed now…
The nation will not be held to ransom by a selfish family whose major interest is to hide behind the criminally amassed wealth… This is the center of everything… They want to gain public sympathy that they are being Persecuted while the truth is the Opposite…
Instead of the Bishop and his group organizing themselves and advising the Lungu’s, they are all quite…
Has he said anything about the insults hurled at the President and the AG by Bertha Lungu… They are instead busy condemning the social media commentators…
    What Hypocrisy is this…
Let us be factual and analytical in the way we look at things…

    • Agreed, my man. I just cant get this behaviour by Zambians around my head, what the fuuuuck! This notion of sympthazing with criminal is simply a Zambian rarity, nowhere in the world

  6. The topic was:”Role of the churches in ECL burial issue”
If you read summary, is there anywhere quoted this bishop on the role the church is playing? Nowhere.
Only, talk about the GRZ & the AG.
95% of the church leaders are politicians in disquise. Every time kubwata bwata fye, and in most cases their comment are worsening the empasse situation.
Lubinda is on record for having said the same thing during KK burial, and because the same churches did not condemn Lubinda, that became a preçedence, so they should be suprised.
The same thing we are telling them, do not tolerate the Lungu’s requirement for the Head Of State not preside, as that entail setting a wrong precedence for the future.

  7. This is a simple thing. If the courts decide that ECL be buried in Zambia and his family refuse to cooperate I suggest we give the remains to Bishop Mususu. I guess he Will know what to do with the body. Maybe when the remains are with him the family will listen since he wants to play the clever one here. What do you do when the family refuse to yield?

  8. So it was only right when bo Lubinda answered the Kaunda family in a similar way? Did this bishop say any thing. He didn’t even offer prayers to Kaweche the one who was not happy.
