KARIBA DAM HASN’T RUN OUT OF WATER FOR POWER GENERATION – ZRA
THE Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) says the Kariba Dam has not run out of water for power generation.
Speaking during a livestream at the Kariba Dam on Tuesday, ZRA Director of Water Resources Christopher Chisense said the authority was working with Zesco and the Zimbabwe Power Company to ensure prudent use of water so that it reached December.
“First of all, the water available for power generation has not run out. So both power stations still have water that is available for power generation. In other words, the live or usable water is still there, it’s just that for this year we did not receive the usual volumes.

The problem is low water level which needs to be rationed in order to enable us reach December but water is there and not finished as some propagandists are trying to portray.
At one time zra had reported that Zambia/zesco had depleted it’s allocation of water.contrasting reports
Sikuwa bo Kawana…..”depleting its allocation” and “running out of water” are two different things.
However as Citizen suggest we have propagandist who write articles to drive a particular narrative and perception driven by Political gain; as opposed to objectively conveying factual information.
This statement is very shallow as it does not explain in detail why we are currently facing loadshedding of this magnitude. In addition, the statement has made no mention of how much power can be generated from the dam on a sustainable basis.
We have been told about water that was allocated to ZESCO by Zambezi River Authority and percentage used.Remaining percentage is what is worrying consumers of electricity in Zambia because the rain may be only available starting from November 2024.But if with rationing we may reach November without serious blackout the better.The level of misleadings in the country is worry some.There are people who are talented with telling lies and misleading people to gain political mileage.
