Kateka urges compound dwellers not to be hoodwinked by sudden uptick in electricity supply
New Heritage Party (NHP) leader Chishala Kateka has urged people living in compounds not to be fooled by the government, following its sudden decision to increase hours of power supply in their respective areas.

Mama Kateka is always offside.In the first place we all know that there is no President or government that can enjoy seeing people living without electricity for long.Zambia has been a hydro electricity dependant country ever since pre independence.We have been enjoying proper rain seasons for long until climate change showed it’s picture.Now that we have known we need to talk about new methods of generating electricity to avoid load shedding.We must not focus on blame game.Give suggestions on the alternatives and praise government for the efforts made in this sad situation.The government has actually tried otherwise it would have been blackout all over.
The provision of long hours of electricity in compounds will definitely boost small businesses in these areas, especially markets where there are welders, barbershops etc. In low density areas ir ma yard people are sparsely populated and often have gen-sets and solar energy, so they do not really need Zesco power.
The real issue is that it robs the opposition of talking points.
You may have noticed that none is talking about mealie meal prices anymore and soon they will go mute on loadshedding. If loadshedding can be reduced, it is cause for joy.
The opposition should not be preoccupied with voting out HH and UPND. The question is, once they achieve this end, then what?
